Introduction

For over a decade I've been creating a variety of portraits, documenting weddings, and producing headshots for local businesses, talent, and entrepreneurs. My interest in photography developed while serving my last year in the Air Force. Before a deployment to Iraq, I spent my down time in front of the camera. I learned a lot about posing and what photographers look for during a photo session. Little did I know that I would end up applying the things I learned as a model to my own photography business one day. Today, I'm so grateful to have had that experience.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My base package for portrait photography is $325 and is popular for senior and graduation portraits. Portrait pricing is based on the number of images in the package, travel, and equipment needed. Micro Weddings start at $575 for two hours of photography and pricing is generally based on the length of photography coverage as well as travel & lodging when traveling more than 45 minutes from my home office. All purchased images are edited with minimal retouching for the most natural results.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always try to pair up my clients with the best valued package for their needs and nothing that they don't need. It's important to me that my clients are set up for success, so I like to offer up styling tips, best time of day for outdoor photos, and best locations. Headshot sessions are typically much shorter for individual sessions and done in my home studio or on location. A retainer is required for all photography sessions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Associate's Degree in Photographic Technology from Daytona State College: Location Portraiture* Studio Lighting* Basic Photoshop Skills Lightroom* Portrait Professional Retouching* Color Printing B&W Printing

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As a model in my late twenties, I became very interested in the process of creating the digital image and eventually I became obsessed with being on the other side of the lens.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Today the vast majority of my clients are engaged couples and businesses. However, I've worked with many models and a few aspiring actors over the years, so headshot photography is one of my specialties to include corporate headshots. I love being able to produce images that help my clients make a good first impression.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently photographed a small wedding for which the mother of the bride hired me. It was a 2 hour session and photographed in historic St Augustine. Here is the message she sent me after delivering the photos: "You are, in my humble opinion, quite possibly the BEST photographer in the ENTIRE universe, Tiffany! EACH and EVERY photo that you took was SO spectacular and evoked SUCH emotion that even if we only had ONE to keep forever, it would be enough! The joy, happiness, laughter, and love jumps out from each photo. YOU HAVE A GIFT... to be able to capture those moments with PERFECT timing and have everyone who sees it be drawn into the moment is remarkable. Everyone is saying the same thing so it's not just me!!! You are gifted and I truly feel you were a gift to us Miss Tiffany!!!" I've been wanting to send you a card (old fashioned, I know...lol) but your address isn't on anything I have. I hope your daughter's school year is going well and I'm trusting all is well with your family as we head into the "season". Thank you for being a blessing! ❤

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't go into it blind! If you've never hired a professional photographer before it can be difficult to know what to expect or if you're being given a fair price. 1) Know your budget, but be informed as well. Do some research to find out what the going rate is for professional photography in your area and know what you're looking for! 2) Never compromise quality for quantity! 3) If you get a referral from a friend, take the time to look at the photographer's work and if you don't love it, keep looking! 4) Remember that not everyone with a camera is an experienced professional. Don't skimp on photography, especially for your wedding or headshots.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Portraits: Ask yourself what your dream photos look like and go with a photographer whose style speaks to you. Do you want a slew of "ok" images or do you want images that you can't wait to print and hang proudly in your home? If you're looking for family portraits, think about a location that represents your family's personality while being open to your photographer's suggestions on time and location for the best results. For time sensitive projects, make sure you ask your photographer what the turnaround time will be for delivery! Wedding Couples: Again, I can't stress enough to choose a photographer whose work you love! Never base your choice on the price tag alone. Ask yourself which is more important to you: Spending time with your guests while your photographer documents your day (photojournalist style) or do you have a lot of specific posed shots you'd like captured? Whichever it is, or if it's both, look for those type of shots in the photographer's website.
