Hi, my name is Tola. I've been shooting professionally since about 2016 and I've had a camera in my hand since I was five years old. I specialize in Portraits and Wedding/Event photography. Whether it's shooting through fast-moving rickshaws in India or crafting studio lighting setups, I've amassed a wide range of experiences that ensure that I will be able to produce something spectacular with you. I take great pride in making the process as collaborative and as comfortable as possible. I like to get to know my clients and their expectations both for the shoot as well as the finished product in order to make something truly wonderful. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

No two jobs are exactly alike. Pricing often depends on a number of different factors but these three things tend to be the biggest considerations: 1. The nature of the shoot 2. Technical and logistical considerations 3. How the resulting images will be used For example, a typical hour long portrait session fee may start at approximately $250 for the session. I also offer a variety of print options such as folio boxes, albums, and wall art. I strongly believe that you should be able to hold your images in your hands whenever you want and not let an algorithm decide for you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I believe that photography is a relational process. Most often, my job is to capture and curate the most important moments of your life. For that reason, I like to get to know you on a personal level. Before working on a project, I'll ask a lot of questions about the purpose of the project, logistics, your personal preferences, and even cultural considerations wherever applicable. As a general rule, I try not to pose my subjects if I don't have to. I typically like for motions, positions, and gestures to be as natural as possible. That said, I will make small suggestions if I think it is necessary.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm a member of the Professional Photographers of America. This allows to to have access to resources, training, and best practices from industry leaders. I also keep a library that's well stocked with books on photography and portraiture. Lastly, I have also participated in a few online courses. However, any photographer worth their salt will tell you that there is no substitute for getting out there and taking pictures. I hope the variety of pictures that I have displayed will speak to my level of expertise and experience on the subject.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got my first camera when I was five years old and ever since, I have taken pictures whenever I could. In the last 6 years, I became obsessive with using Photography as a mechanism for storytelling. In my personal projects I've explored heavy themes like Kenopsia and Isolation, as well as lighter projects related to music, cosplay.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've done a variety work over the years, but I specialize in portraits and weddings/events. Occasionally I do some landscape and travel photography for my own personal work. I'm constantly working to find new creative challenges to make sure that I can handle whatever task my clients need.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

There's a famous cosplayer named Jonathan Belle, whose work I've been a fan of for many years. Recently, I got the opportunity to work with him on a shoot with his latest costume as a NASA astronaut. We had a very tight deadline to catch the sun in a very specific position, but we were able to make it in the knick of time. (We had to fudge the lighting a little be using some creative cinematic lighting techniques but the results were stunning.) What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking to hire a photographer, the very first thing that you should consider is whether or not you like their work. Whether the picture was free or whether it costs a small fortune doesn't matter if you don't like the photograph.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

1. What's the purpose of the shoot? 2. How do you want experience these images when they're ready? 3. What are your expectations for the session? 4. Are there any images that you want model your shoot after? 5. Do you have any props that you would like to use?
