Introduction

Hi. I'm Kat Waldvogel. Kat is short for Kathleen and Waldvogel is a mouthful. :) I've been a professional photographer for over 13 years, and I would love to be your photographer. My clients have lots of different reasons for booking their sessions: * getting married * getting divorced  * as a sexy gift for their significant other * reaching a "milestone" birthday * achieving a fitness goal * embracing themselves just as they are... :) In addition to boudoir and beauty photography, the studio has expanded to offer headshots and branding photography, as well as still life photo projects. Whatever YOUR reason, we'll collaborate to design your boudoir session to capture images that will celebrate YOU. YOU: at your best Think you don't photograph well? That's something I hear all the time, and I'm always thrilled when I change women's minds. I have years of experience photographing actors, models and regular folks. Over time, I've developed a style of engaging with and working with my clients that creates a relaxing environment where everyone has fun. And your photographs are going to be amazing!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Boudoir photography is incredibly specialized, and when done right, is a luxury experience. My retainer fee is $350, which includes professional hair and makeup, and a full, luxury photo shoot. Products and prints are purchased separately. Collections start at $990, with most clients investing $3-5,000. Some invest significantly more. If you are price shopping for boudoir photography, you get what you pay for.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Step 1: Consultation - typically by phone, as soon as a client inquires. We discuss your motivation for wanting to do a boudoir shoot, answer your questions, and get to know each other a bit. This is a very intimate photo shoot, so being comfortable with your photographer is key to getting the most gorgeous images. If images are needed by a certain date we take that into consideration when selecting the date for your shoot. Once your retainer is paid and your date is secured, we move to... Step 2: Planning - I set up a private, Pinterest vision board and we begin collaborating on hair and makeup, and wardrobe. You'll get a bunch of emails from me, guiding you through every step of planning your dream photo shoot. Reminders are sent as your session date approaches so that you'll be rested and ready to have an amazing time. Step 3: Your shoot - sessions typically start at 10am with professional hair and makeup. While you're in the chair being pampered, I'll go through your wardrobe choices and we'll plan out your session. This is another great opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better and for your to get comfortable and relaxed. We'll shoot for around 2 hours in a variety of outfits and with different sets. You can expect an incredible boost to your self-esteem from this experience, and I generally suggest to clients that they plan an evening out to capitalize on their makeover and riding the energy from their shoot. Step 4: Image reveal and ordering appointment. About a week after your session you'll return to the studio to see your gorgeous images for the first time. We'll go through your images, one-by-one, to determine which ones you absolutely cannot live without. I'll custom design a luxury album of your choice and we'll decide on wall art. Payment plans are available to ensure you get all the images that you love, and once you are paid in full, your products are ordered. If your collection includes digital files, you can leave with them at the end of your ordering appointment, or they'll be delivered when your payment plan has been completed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've refined my style and skills by working with some of the best photography coaches available, as well as through professional instruction on industry-leading photography tools like PhotoShop and LightRoom. I have been a professional photographer for over 13 years, photographing actors, models and business professionals. When I decided to incorporate boudoir and beauty photography, I chose mentors at the highest level of the boudoir industry. I continue working with these talented coaches, as well as collaborating with boudoir photographers across the country, to ensure I am constantly growing and improving in my craft.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I had been exploring boudoir photography for a few months when a friend said she'd love to do a shoot to create a special Valentine's Day gift for her husband of 13 years. This type of shoot was way out of her comfort zone, but since we were friends, she felt comfortable with me. I did some research on posing and wardrobe, and we just jumped in. During the photo session, both of us relaxed, she felt really sexy and we got some amazing images. When I showed her the final photos, she said "I didn't know that I could look so pretty." That's when I was hooked. What a great feeling to be able to show someone their true beauty! She's coming back in for another session in a couple months and I'm excited to show her even more amazing images. The reviews posted on my profile prior to March 2020 are from headshot and portrait photography clients. They speak directly to what it is like to work with me, even though I have narrowed my focus to boudoir photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Every age, shape, color and size. Boudoir is for EVERY woman. The whole purpose of it is to show you how beautiful you are, right now.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I had a session with a mom of two children. She had a difficult delivery when her daughter was born three years ago, leaving her with a vertical C-section scar and not feeling like herself. Her makeover and photo session took about 3.5 hours, and by the end of it she was soaring. Her images are gorgeous and she has a renewed sense of her strength and femininity. The client saw her images within a couple days of her session. Final prints and her luxury album were delivered about three weeks after her ordering appointment.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
There's a whole series of blog posts on my website to help guide clients through this process, but bottom line, meet your photographer. Over the phone or in person, you need to ensure that you are a good fit and that you are comfortable. And obviously, check their work, as well as any products or wall art. Pick someone whose work aligns with what you are hoping to capture. Just look at their portfolio, and if the images are like the ones you would like to own, take the next step to understand how they work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Again - lots of blog posts on my website. If you're considering a boudoir shoot - even just a little bit - get on the phone with me and let's talk. It's my job to answer all the questions you don't even know you have.
