Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My rate makes sure that my time and expertise are covered. However, additional fees may be added on for time, travel, or editing. I required a 50% deposit to secure your booking. The other 50% will be due on the day of your session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First, I try to understand what my client wants. Let's talk about how your photos will be used so we can make an image that works for you. We'll agree on a price based on how long your session is, how many photos are edited, how far we have to travel, etc., and then set a date and place for your photo session. Next, I’ll send over appointment details and an invoice with a 50% deposit requirement.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I consider myself primarily a self-taught street photographer. My experience with shooting street pictures has given me a leg up on the competition compared to more traditional portrait photographers. I think it's crucial to work constantly on improving one's skills. I'm very proficient in both Lightroom and Photoshop. Not to mention, I am almost always enrolled in a course to continue my lighting and photography education.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started shooting on streets a few years ago. After years of practice and training, freelance photography was a natural fit for me.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with couples, small businesses, nonprofits, actors, families and individuals. I love shooting proposals. other than that, I have experience shooting weddings, post engagement events, events like birthday and baby showers, traditional south Asian events, graduation, branding sessions, headshot photography, senior session, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I just took some photos of products and portraits for a small business run by a woman. It took about three weeks to plan, do, and edit. I looked at reference photos, talked to my clients several times before our session, and spent a little extra time making sure the final photos were perfect.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Choose a photographer whose portfolio and method of working with clients put you at ease. Because portraits are about the connection between subject and photographer, those elements will shine through in your pictures.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do you have reference photos for how you’d like to be captured? Are outdoor or indoor photos more important to you? How do you want others to feel when they see these photos?
