Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Each full session is $300. That includes a 30-minute to 1-hour session. You may have up to two outfits (1 outfit change), and the session will be at one location within 20 miles of Derry, NH. You will get all the chosen and edited photos in an online gallery, and you can download them from there and buy prints, canvases, albums, etc. I do seasonal mini-sessions for a lower price, but they are 15 minutes long, and five photos are included with the option to buy more! This price also includes the work that goes on behind the scenes: preparing for a session, culling and editing photos, marketing, equipment and software, and more. True photography is NOT just clicking a button. The price reflects the amount of work that goes into delivering your photos!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
New clients can either inquire here or fill out the inquiry form on my website. From there, we will nail down the date, times, and price of the session. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is paid, we go into planning, which includes a questionnaire to determine how to meet your goals for the session. Then, we shoot!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I took a “Professional Photography” course through the New York Institute of Photography and am a member of the Professional Photographers of America. I’ve also done mentor sessions to help me perfect my work.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I used to dance at a salsa school and manage its social media. I started taking photos there and fell in love with portraiture. I started taking photos for friends and family, took mentor sessions, and recently finished a course in Professional Photography. I started as a side business in 2022 and have moved to full time recently!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Slightly changing the question to: What types of sessions do you do? I do general portraiture! I tend to work more with families and kids, which I love! But I also do senior photos, graduation photos, prom photos, engagement photos, and artistic photography. I also do small weddings, under 50 people, and elopements!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
All sessions are 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on what’s needed. Family sessions, cake smashes, and branding sessions usually take the full hour, while headshots tend to be shorter. Every full session receives all the chosen photos! For example, I did a family session/cake smash with an adorable little girl and her parents. Each part lasted a half hour because we were trying to fit it into an hour. I was super excited about this session and couldn't help myself, I started editing the photos the next day. I finished early and delivered them within a week!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You should look for a photographer that offers the style you like. If you want light and airy, look for a photographer that has a light and airy style. My style is more true to color, so if you like my style, book with me!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Take a look at the potential photographer's work through Thumbtack, Instagram, or their website. If you like their style of photos, then inquire! Also, see what they are photographing. Is it in line with what you're asking for? If you want to do a family session, is this person a family photographer?
