At Stop and Stare, we believe it’s about much more than just having a good eye and a great camera. It’s about taking the time to get to know you and planning out the details in advance, so that you can get the most out of your wedding day photos with absolutely no stress on you. And when we say “no stress,” we really mean it. We will work with you on photo location scouting, poses, and we will put together a fool-proof shot list so that we can capture all of your most important photos. Not to mention, we will collaborate on your engagement photo session so that you and your fiance will be naturals in front of the camera on your wedding day! Over the past 10 years, I embraced photography whole-heartedly, spending endless hours behind the lens of my camera. I enjoy the idea of capturing life’s genuinely beautiful moments and am especially drawn to the influence of lighting on a photo and how it can help tell a story or set a mood. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I like to provide my clients with high quality photos at a value pricing structure. Simple, a la carte projects start at $199 and go up from there. I am happy to work with you to provide a package that meets your budget parameters. Also, if you book your wedding photography with me, I offer a 25% discount on your engagement session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

If you are interested in my services, let's have an initial phone or in-person consultation. I like to speak directly with my clients to find out exactly what they are looking to achieve. We can collaborate and share inspiration photos via email if you like and plan the photoshoot together. Or, if you prefer to leave the planning to the pros, I am happy to take the lead and direct you as needed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a decade of practical experience and have attended countless classes and workshops in the areas of lighting, editing, Photoshop, and posing techniques.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

For 40 years, I've owned my own business as a Porcelain Ceramist, transforming people's teeth. That said, I spent much of my career studying the human form, especially faces and smiles. It was through photography of teeth and smiles that I discovered my fascination and love of the art form! About 10 years ago, I bought a professional camera and started experimenting, taking photos of my family, pets, landscapes, and social gatherings. The hobby quickly turned into a passion and here I am today!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I enjoy working with people of all kinds, from all walks of life. I have a varied portfolio showcasing everything from wedding photography, family and couples portraits to senior pictures, baby photos, boudoir sessions and more.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My favorite projects as of late have been working on weddings. I truly enjoy working with couples to capture their vision for their perfect wedding day photos. It's an honor to experience the wedding between two people in love and an even bigger honor to be selected as their photographer. If time permits, I like to plan a shot list with the couple, prior to the day of. I typically shoot for 8 hours day of and will take about 3 weeks to provide the first round of selects.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best way to make sure you are satisfied with your photographer and the results of your photo session is to know what you want. Do a little bit of research by finding some examples of photos you like and send them to your photographer. It's best to collaborate as much as possible prior to the day of the shoot so that you are both prepared and expectations have been set.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Here are some questions that are good to ask before booking your photographer: - Find out the location for your shoot. Will it be in a studio? Is it nearby? Provide ideas for locations you like if applicable - Is your photographer willing to travel? If so, what are his/her travel fees? Does your photographer have a studio? - Figure out what type of photography you are looking for: high fashion, portrait, candids, traditional, photo-journalistic, etc. Then ask your photographer if they can accommodate the style you like. - Do you want multiple wardrobe changes? How many does your photographer include for the price? - How long is the typical session for this type of photography? - Are you looking to include specific props in your photos? Does your photographer have props to work with? Just prepare him/her of your desire and expectations - Will you be getting hair and makeup styling for the shoot? What style will be aiming for?
