Introduction

I offer award-winning photography of all kinds, specializing in senior portraits, weddings, engagement portraits, sports photography, family portraits, business photography, editorial, real estate and travel photos. I have a background of 35 years as an award-winning photojournalist on several daily newspapers. Since 2002, I've been freelancing and doing all sorts of photography, especially weddings and celebrations and portraits. I'm dedicated to providing great results and giving you exactly the kind of photos you are hoping for. I will provide photos in whatever medium you want: prints, digital, flash drive, photo albums, etc. I believe my fees are reasonable and offer a great value. I'm easy to work with. I offer a quick turnaround on prints/flash drives after the event or shoot. I'm also pleased to offer discounts for repeat customers, or for referrals.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I'm very flexible on my pricing, depending on what your photo needs are. I work hard to provide excellent value. I do offer discounts of up to 15 percent for any referrals who sign with me.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I invite the customer to take a look at my web site. If they see photos they like and think we might be a good fit, I encourage them to contact me either on the phone or by email.. During a session I make sure that all customer photo needs are satisfied. After the session I try and give a very quick turnaround for the edited prints, digital media or flash drives.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have close to 40 years as a professional newspaper photographer and have won numerous journalism awards for photography, editing and writing.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started by working on my high school newspaper, then was fortunate to be a reporter, advertising manager and finally editor of my college newspaper. Since then I worked for close to 40 years in the newspaper industry. The last 15 years I've worked as a freelance photographer and love the work.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds. Especially as a newspaper photographer I've worked with a wide variety of people, including athletes, coaches, teachers, students, cops and firefighters, military, politicians. real estate agents and business people of all kinds. These days my favorite people to work with are high school seniors, engaged couples and brides and grooms.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I basically like almost all of my projects. A recent one that was fun was one high school senior needed a portrait. His mom asked if I could take a family shot at the same time. We did that and the family was terrific to work with. We took photos of them at both urban and rural locations and I thought the pictures turned out great. Never be shy to ask your photographer to go the extra mile.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Take a long look at their web sites to see if you're a good match. Almost always you can tell that if the photos on the web site are what you're looking for, that's the kind of work the photographer will be able to deliver.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have some ideas of exactly what kind of photos you want. Don't rely on the photographer to come up with everything. Most pros are pretty good about making suggestions on how, when and where to pose, but most will also be very appreciative if the customer also has some suggestions as well.
