Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At Alex Faye Photography, my pricing is designed to be transparent and tailored to each client's needs. I offer competitive rates for all my services, with no hidden fees. I also provide customized packages for larger projects, such as weddings, to fit your budget. Occasionally, I may offer seasonal discounts or special promotions. All prices include professional editing and retouching to ensure the highest quality images. I offer video services and travel for extra costs, but everything is always upfront and finalized before the session is booked. Feel free to reach out if you'd like a custom quote!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I aim to make the entire process as seamless and comfortable as possible. Once a customer reaches out, I begin with a consultation to discuss their vision, needs, and expectations. Whether it's a wedding, portrait, or event, I like to understand what you’re looking for fully. Based on that conversation, I cover pricing and any additional costs that may be applied (such as prints, travel, etc.) After that, we schedule the shoot, during which I ensure you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. After the session, I edit the images and deliver them via an online gallery. I'm always available for questions or feedback during every step of the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve honed my skills through hands-on experience and formal training. I have taken numerous photography courses and attended workshops to refine my technical skills in lighting, composition, and editing. Over the years, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients and developed expertise in capturing everything from intimate family moments to large-scale events. My continuing education and commitment to improving my craft ensure that I always deliver top-quality images.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My journey into photography started as a deeply personal one. I’ve always had difficulty remembering events and faces, which made it hard to hold onto memories. Without photos, I wouldn’t have much to share with my loved ones about my life or experiences. Photography became my way of preserving these fleeting moments, allowing me to look back and reconnect with them. One of the most significant inspirations came from the photos I have of my great-grandmother and her parents from the 1920s and 30s. Without these images, I wouldn’t know what my great-great-grandparents looked like when they were younger, or be able to see my great-grandmother’s nursing school graduation photo from 1941. These photos gave me a tangible connection to my family’s history, something I wouldn’t have without photography. This personal experience led me to realize how powerful photography can be in preserving memories for others. I wanted to help people capture their own special moments—whether it’s a wedding, family portrait, or an important life event—so they can hold onto those memories for a lifetime. That’s what inspired me to turn my passion into a business, where I can use my skills to help others create lasting memories.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients, including couples planning their weddings, families capturing special moments, individuals needing professional headshots, and businesses looking for corporate event coverage. My portfolio also includes musicians, venues, and event planners for live performances and concerts. Whether it's an intimate portrait session or a large event, I tailor my services to meet each client's specific needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project I’m particularly proud of was a beautiful elopement session. The couple wanted something simple but memorable, and I worked with them to find the perfect outdoor location that reflected their personalities. The entire session took about 4 hours, and afterward, I spent another week editing and retouching the photos to perfection. The final images captured the intimacy of the moment and the couple’s joy, and they were thrilled with the results. Seeing their reaction made all the effort worthwhile.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When hiring a photographer, it’s essential to look beyond pricing and focus on style, experience, and how well they understand your vision. Make sure you review their portfolio to see if their style aligns with what you're looking for. Communication is key—don’t hesitate to ask questions and discuss details to ensure the photographer can deliver exactly what you want. Most importantly, choose someone who makes you feel comfortable, as it will show in your photos.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before reaching out to a photographer, consider the following: * What’s your budget for the project? * What style of photography are you looking for (posed, candid, natural light, etc.)? * Do you have a specific location in mind, or would you like suggestions? * What is the timeframe for when you need the photos delivered? * Are there any specific moments or details you want to make sure are captured? * Will you need prints, digital copies, or both? Thinking through these questions will help ensure you and your photographer are on the same page, and will help the professional tailor their services to your specific needs.
