Introduction

I create portraits that exude natural beauty and that look almost effortless, although that may not always be the case. I am willing to go the extra mile to search for a unique location and utilize the right lighting to execute my vision for the final product. This is mostly true or specialized sessions for teens and brides. I am also able to work with families with young children to put them at ease. This helps me to bring out natural interactions and allows for such things as their clothing to become less of the focus. The subjects should always be the center of attention. I enjoy the variety of work I do. I enjoy the peaceful, gentle energy I feel during newborn sessions. I love the laughter and quiet moments filled with genuine love during engagement sessions. I also love the challenge and high-energy of family sessions. I also enjoy creating art out of the portraits. I have invested a lot of my time and resources to learning from the best in the field of artistic digital imaging. I use image enhancing programs to produce works of art that still remain true to the subject being photographed. Less is always more.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Yes, the price that is quoted always includes the digital images and the tax. Specific breakdowns are available via my website.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always preplan with them to make sure I know what style and look they are wanting for their session. I will also take the time to plan props or suggest clothing, when appropriate or asked to do so.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have certificates from the APA and received training from newborn photography specialists, as that is an entirely different skill set that other portrait sessions. I edit your images and will take the time to touch up any unfortunate blemishes. My editing is also a skill I have acquired thru training with the philosophy of "less is always more."

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I realized that if I was going to be able to stay at home to raise my children, then I needed to turn one of my hobbies into a legitimate skill and be trained by the best to be able to obtain professional status. Then, with time and experience, I could create a business for myself and set my own hours.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Families (big and small), teens, couples, babies, children, newborn babies.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have followed a couple from their engagement pictures, to their wedding day, to maternity pictures, to newborn pictures, and their baby's first birthday pictures. It's such an honor to be there at each milestone.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Know that you get what you pay for and that lighting, composition and shooting styles should be your guidelines before looking at price. You want to be happy with your results, as photographers provide a service that is nonrefundable.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Custom photography is a different skill set than traditional (standard) studio chain photography. You can expect that your photographer will take the time to prepare you beforehand for your session by discussing location ideas, suggesting wardrobe looks, and by making your session personable and as unique as you are. You should go away from your session having felt like your photographer made a genuine connection with you and that connection will show in your images. You can also expect that your custom photographer will spend time paying attention to the details when it comes to the final editing of your images. Overall, it is a unique, one-on-one experience that goes beyond a quick chain studio visit.
