Introduction

The images we create together will communicate an emotion, a feeling, a message. My work stands out because my images communicate. In 20 plus years of being a professional photographer I've learned how to make my subjects glow and look amazing with lighting, posing and timing. I will make you feel at ease while we're having fun, and getting amazing photos. Balancing the technical with the artistic is what gets results that my clients are thrilled with. You can see my reviews on yelp.com just type in Matt Cali Photography at the top left where it says "find" and Los Angeles. All 60 of my reviews are 5 stars.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My prices are up front and transparent. There are no hidden fees.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First I find out what they are looking for. Then I work with them to get laser focused on what the vision is. Then we work together to capture those exact images.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a BA in Fine Arts with a focus in photography from Central Washington University. I've taken extensive classes at The Pacific Photographic Center Northwest. Learned through trial and error over decades of being a professional photographer and countless online classes and YouTube videos. I had 5 solo exhibitions of my work in Seattle. I shoot fashion, weddings, headshots, commercial, fine art, portraits and doggies. My specious studio is in Los Angeles. I work in the industry shooting actors and models along with brand building, portraits, commercial, family portraits and weddings. I shoot mostly in Los Angeles, Seattle and Vegas but I've traveled to Haiti, Bora Bora, Bangkok, London, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and many other places for photoshoots.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In highschool I photographed all my friends with a Pentax K1000 35 mm film camera and feel in love with photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
My clients have ranged from celebrities like John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Mike Tyson, Magic Johnson, Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray, Carlos Santa to people who have never had a professional photoshoot. I work with all types of people.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My team and I did an all day brand building shoot in Vegas. My client was the owner of a company that helps detect cancer in a totally initiative way. We did studio shots, on location, and ended with fantastic sunset shots. My client was thrilled and so was I. Weddings are so much fun for me too. I've shot hundreds of weddings. I always have fun on my shoots. But this one stands out to me.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
This is very obvious but: 1. Make sure you look at and like their work. 2. When you talk to them do they seem like someone you'd want to work with? 3. How much experience do they have? 4. Do they respond to communication quickly? 5. Don't try to save a few bucks on a cheap "professional". If you do it'll cost you in the long run.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would ask the professional how they can help execute their vision. Ask how long they've been a photographer. Ask if there's somewhere you can look at reviews.
