Introduction

Hello! I’m Rebecca, a Denver-based photographer with a passion for capturing the best moments in and around the Mile High City, the adjacent mountains, and Colorado's iconic ski towns. I also work in offices, homes, studios, and venues to deliver a versatile photography experience tailored to your needs. Photography has been a part of my life for over 20 years, and my journey began as a teenager, inspired by summer travels. I launched Rebecca Sloan Creative in September 2019—just six months before the pandemic. Despite the challenges of 2020 and 2021, my business thrived with over 300 photoshoots during that time. Over the years, I’ve photographed headshots for six book authors, the City of Aurora, bands, real estate agents, fitness coaches, entrepreneurs, models, social media influencers, and actors. My experience also includes capturing families, high school seniors, and engaged couples during the pandemic. Education and Experience I trained at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs—back-to-back national championships!), where I studied photography and served as the photo editor for Ugazine before graduating in 2010. During college, I worked three summers as a camp photographer and took on side projects for businesses and wedding photographers throughout the 2010s before officially launching my business in 2019. In your photo session with me, you can select from a variety of options, including: Basic headshots Lifestyle portraits Artistic poses Team photos Location photos Product or service shots Action and candid imagery Behind-the-scenes shots Personality or hobby-focused photos Love what you see? Feel free to inquire. I provide a full-service guide with in-depth details about the process, ensuring clear expectations every step of the way.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My packages start at $197 for headshots, $239 for mini sessions and $399 for standard packages. There may be seasonal fluctuations, but expect to invest at least $200 in your photographic art. This is an investment for the years to come, and I want to give you my best service possible. Late fee is $50 when arriving more than 5 minutes late. I want to make sure there is ample time to photograph you, and when you arrive late, it limits our time and prolongs schedules for the day. Also, at sunset, we may run out of available daylight. Expedite fees are available if you need photos edited and turned around in under 5 business days. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work in this profession, so to be fair to my other clients and projects, I can't promise turnaround times under a week without additional investment. Additional images may be available for purchase, starting at $15 per digital file. I recently launched a print lab, so prints will be available for additional purchase! I can prorate pricing by the quarter hour.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I set aside half an hour for consultation for anyone interested in the full or half day experiences or subscription packages, as well as event photoshoots and group headshot packages. All other sessions are set up via email and chat messaging. If you don't see your question answered, send a message!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2010. In my undergraduate studies, I completed a course on photography. In 2018 and 2019, I studied dozens of photography online trainings via Lynda, Skillshare and YouTube.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I fell in love with photography back in high school while on summer travel adventures. After completing a photography class in college, I worked as the photo editor for the campus magazine for two years. Also, I was a camp photographer for three summers. Later on, I assisted various companies in their photography needs - whether that was of employees or products. I've done portrait photography for friends and acquaintances over the years and assisted wedding photographers as a second shooter. I've also worked with a local media outlet in providing occasional event photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Influencers, corporations, fitness coaches, personal trainers, entrepreneurs, real estate agents, book authors, actors, models, engaged couples, high school seniors, nonprofits, families, extended families, weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, reunions, showers, headshots, group headshots, graduation portraits and sports.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
An influencer/business coach was in town from the East Coast. She needed updated branding photos, so we met at my favorite spot near Boulder for outdoor photos. We captured her in a variety of outfits and poses. She also brought along props. She now uses these photos for digital products, website, online directories, and more! A headshot was included as well. From start to finish (the initial planning to the final edited images), the process was about two months, but it can be done in about 5 weeks' time as well.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ensure you have realistic expectations about editing turnaround times. Understand that photos are an investment. You may have friends or family members practicing their photo skills, but do you really want your life and business work to be at risk of an amateur photographer? I guarantee satisfaction and offer one retake on headshot sessions. There is a lot more that goes into running a professional photography business than just showing up and clicking a button so have realistic expectations about the pricing of the package. Also, it's important to build rapport with your photographer! While your photographer can't fake your confidence, they can support you! Also, I offer playing your favorite Spotify playlist to help you relax during the session!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What's your budget for this photoshoot? Do you have an ideal location in mind for the photoshoot to take place? Who's being photographed? Are you allowing for the editing/turnaround time as well? *Best to book in advance to be prepared for the unexpected, as Colorado weather is unpredictable and may prompt rescheduling.
