Introduction

James Vitullo is a professional freelance photographer who makes each client's experience revolve around a positive impact. I deliver unique, original angles and compositional skills that leave every client knowing that their time never went to waste. I love candid portraits, and these give insight into personality as well as genuine emotion. Preparation and couple shoots are my favorite aspects of each and every wedding day. Leaving my clients amazed at the angles and composition they would have never thought of means that I did my job right. The best part of my career is getting to know my clients and making their time turn into the best decision they ever made.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The fee is subject to change due to location(s), time(s), and delivery of photographs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I usually plan to meet in person over lunch or dinner to discuss pricing and details about what the client is looking for. I bring an outline and contract to every consultation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am self-taught, a graduate student from McHenry County College who studied Digital Imaging I, II, and III, and a current student at Columbia College in Chicago majoring in Photography who is studying Digital Imaging, Advanced Lighting classes, and more.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began with painting when I was eight years old, which introduced me into the art world. I was handed down my father's Nikon D200 when I was thirteen, and ever since then I have been behind the lens.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with people of all ages, which makes my job a surprise every time!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent project I am working on is my "Midst" collection. This involves staging scenes that emulate movie stills. This collection is seen in the Midst section of my portfolio (portfolio.jimmyvitullo.com).

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Advice I would give to customers looking to hire a provider in my area of work would be to make sure they are passionate in their field. They need to love what they do, otherwise there will be photographers who will not be as social as you were hoping them to be. Make sure their price range is not too low or outrageously high. In other words, you get what you pay for, and sometimes the ones charging too high may not even be as good as you were hoping for.
