Introduction

Hello! Thanks for looking to Thumbtack for your photography needs. I serve the Michiana area (Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana). I've been photographing for a number of years and I love it today as much as I did when I started. My goal is to satisfy the photography needs of my clients, giving them a great product at an affordable price.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My fee includes up to a two hour session, location of your choice, editing hours with the edited digital images delivered to you via an online gallery with unlimited, high resolution images, sharable with friends and family. Weddings are priced by the hour. In addition to the photos being delivered through an online gallery, a USB flash drive is also provided to the bride and groom.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After making contact through Thumbtack, we can then communicate via text or phone call. It's not necessary to meet in person prior to our appointment, unless we are discussing a large wedding, in which case we would meet to work up a contract.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I'm a self taught photographer. I'm constantly learning from other photographers, online information, reading, photographing. I do have a BA in social welfare/psychology. Although this doesn’t help much with my photography skills, it’s very beneficial to my people skills, in addition to having years of experience in social work and as a juvenile probation worker and foster care worker.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was only a hobbyist until my first grandchild was born (yes! I'm that old). And then I became serious about getting some great shots for my scrapbooking, which I no longer have time to do, since I'm always taking pictures!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with the best customers Thumbtack has! No joke! All of my experiences with TT customers have been beyond positive. But in regard to the type of photography I do, I work with a lot of families, high school and college grads, and wedding couples.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
After the pandemic hit, I did a Quarantine Porch Project at the beginning of it, photographing families on their front porch or in the yard.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Choose the person for the job after you have looked at their work and feel their STYLE is right for you. It's also good to know you'll feel comfortable with this person, so give them a call and chat for a while. Read the reviews. For larger projects, like a wedding, arrange a face to face before making your decision and have a look at their portfolio.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1.) What will I do with my photos (prints, albums, share on social media)? 2.) Does the professional's pricing fall within my budget? 3.) Does the photographer seem like someone with whom I can feel comfortable? 4.) Is the photographer going to be easy to reach and fast to respond to my calls, emails, texts, and questions? 5.) Does the photographer guarantee to get my photos back to me quickly.
