Helping families in Metro Detroit capture, preserve and showcase their unique love story. My goal is to capture and preserve beautiful moments from their lives and transform them into heirloom wall art and albums to be remember and passed on for years to come. I specialize in newborn, maternity, baby and family photography. I also photograph High School Seniors. Words can not express how much I enjoy witnessing and preserving the love and joy of a families.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is somewhat flexible...I have all inclusive digital packages and a pricing model that allows people to purchase from an a la carte menu. I am a big believer in you only buy what you love.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My website has all the information for the process of working with me...from hello to product delivery. Google Dana Rose Photography and look at "The Process" section of my site.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have mentored with another professional photographer and a color expert. On a regular basis, I take classes on editing techniques. I submit images for peer review. I occasionally work with models to test out new locations and techniques. I regularly try new professional print labs to ensure I am using the one I believe to be the best.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I did not intentionally become a photographer. My husband and I lived overseas and for fun I taught a photography calls for a women's club I was in, and people just started asking me to take family photos for them. Then I had my son (my muse) and my love for newborn, baby and family photography really flourished. I opened my current business in early 2017 when we relocated to Grosse Pointe Michigan.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Newborns, babies, children, families and extended families.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Take the time to see physical print samples of their work. What you see on screen and on paper can vary A LOT. The only way to really know if you like the finished product is to see it in person. For those booking newborn sessions, please know these can be dangerous if the photographer is unaware of how to perform certain poses. I would recommend asking everyone "What do you do to ensure the safety of my newborn?" If you want to hear my answer for this, google my business and contact me through my site and I will be happy to answer.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What you plan to do with your images! How I approach every session depends on my client's unique end game. If someone is looking for an album, I look for storytelling images in the gallery (a mom patting a baby's butt, the baby starting to fall asleep, the perfect image). If someone want a three piece wall gallery, I make sure I understand what their vision is for those pieces. If someone is looking for a Christmas gift for the in laws or grandma, I show clients some popular gifts, and I have even sourced a few special items (jewelry, ornaments...).
