Introduction

Hello! My name is Kenny “Hiro” (pronounced “HERO”) Fukuda (hence, “Hiropix”), and this adventure began as a hobby. I volunteered to shoot a local pageant - the Miss River Valley/St. Croix Valley (Miss America) pageant as a way to get some photography experience. I found that I loved using my camera to capture the immense inner and outer beauty of people. I desire to tell the story of the people I photograph, and Hiropix Studios was born. Let me tell your story through my camera. Today, I am a portrait, wedding, and commercial fashion/model photographer, based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. I work out of my studio in downtown Minneapolis, but travels statewide to work with clients from all walks of life, regardless of their orientation, identification, sizes, shapes, or ages. In my free time I love spending time with my wife of almost 10 years and my three kids. Come. Let me tell your story in a way you’ve never experienced.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I'm a luxury portrait, brand, and wedding photographer in the Minneapolis area!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We first start on a zoom call to determine fit. I might not be the best resource for you! After a zoom call, I will review the client needs, send out contracts, etc. Depending on the nature of the event, I may do a site visit just so I can be prepared. For any outdoor portraits, engagement shoots, etc., I will visit the location prior to the shoot to determine best locations!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been in photography since high school!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I picked up a camera in middle school and have been hooked.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with event planners, coaches, athletic directors, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I shot the 2022 USATF Junior Olympic Regional Qualifier. This was a multi-day event. I loved the work!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Experience is obviously important - but many types of events have transferable skills. For example, shooting a football game may not seem translatable to a wedding or candid engagement shoot - but here are the skills that transfer: 1. Both are about capturing a moment that will not be replicated 2. The photographer can't control the light in either situation, nor can the photographer always place the people. 3. Excellence in both requires the ability to be in the right place, and the right time, capturing the emotions. 4. Both involve the photographer acting and moving quickly through the event location to capture all the angles in all types of lighting. Football games have the worst lighting in all types of outdoor photography. 5. Last - both involve the client needing images quickly. Sports and wedding clients can't/shouldn't wait months to get their images.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. What are you trying to capture? 2. Who is audience? 3. Where will the images be posted - social media, print, flyers, books, magazines, etc.
