Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
More than just pictures, it's an experience. I have many options and styles, my portrait sessions start at $189 depending on the service you're looking for. My session guide will help us focus on what best fits your needs. We will work together to find the perfect session and capture the best of you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I’d love to start out with a personal consultation and introduce myself. A quick meeting before the shoot allows us to get to know each other, learn likes & dislikes, talk through details, options and answers those questions before the photo day. During the shoot, we have fun! Depending on the session, I’ll give a little “pre-touching” to the selected proofs and post them in a private online album You choose your favorites and I finish them then work with you on the final products (Prints, files, albums, etc.).

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a Certified Professional Master Photographer through The Professional Photographers of America. I have over 20 years experience photographing all ranges of people & situations. I am knowledgeable in studio as well as outdoor, natural lighting as well as artificial light. I have also trained and mentored many other photographers throughout the country teaching classes and workshops.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve been photographing since my high school days. I started out assisting in a small studio that did high school senior portraits and learned how sessions were much more than clicking a button. It is an experience. I enjoy getting to know people during a session. Each person is different, therefore each session is never the same. I feel there is beauty in everyone, even if they don’t believe it.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with them all! However, I do prefer working with adults. I feel I can connect & communicate better with adults who don’t need a treat in order to smile.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I had the opportunity to photograph business headshots for an friend who went through a rough layoff after 25 years with the company. Down on his luck and not sure where to start, he realized what a different world it is now to look for a new job. Everything is done online nowadays and your social media & web profile is your handshake & business card. I photographed him and he was very appreciative, but when I tried to do this shoot as a favor seeing as he was currently unemployed, but he refused “No. I’m going to pay you for your work. I’m not looking for a handout. That is how business is done.” His strong business ethics inspire me to this day to make sure I give just as much as I have received.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for experience. I truly believe “You get what you pay for.” I know that may make me sound expensive, but I’ve seen “photographers” who buy a decent camera but don’t take the time to educate themselves in their craft. They literally make people look bad by not knowing how to help them look good. All for a quick buck.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I’d would ask myself “Why do I want a photo session” “Where will I use these images?” “What do I want out of this session?” If I can answer that and find a photographer that understands my vision, the rest should be an awesome experience! Never choose based solely on price!
