Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have over 15 years experience as a professional photographer. I have photographed hundreds of weddings, events, and even more headshots. The pricing is based on the experience I bring to your session (event or headshots) as your professional photographer. You can have the confidence that I have photographed in every situation imaginable. Since 2009 I have worked to make my clients love the process of booking our services, sitting for their portraits, and receiving their pictures.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The process always starts with speaking to the clients and guiding them. Headshots- Pre shoot wardrobe advice. The wardrobe you select is essential for a great headshot/portrait. I will help guide you through what is the best options for you. Events/ Weddings- Prior to the event, my clients and I meet to review the timeline of the event/wedding. I want to hear what they need or want from me. I can then best guide them as to what will work for the event. I always give clients a timeline of their event.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
15 years professional photography experience as the lead photographer. Numerous photography training conferences with some of the top photographers in the world for both events/ weddings and headshot portraits.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have loved photography since I was a teen. The start of the professional journey began when I used to coach a high school team and decided to take pictures of the players to give them at the banquet. Parents loved them! The following season I began photographing other teams and selling the images on a website I created. From there I began photographing other sports and family pictures. My first wedding was so fun, I knew I needed to devote more time to the craft.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have photographed headshots for CEOs of multi million dollar companies to new college graduates looking for their first job. I have photographed weddings with a guest list of 700 people in enormous cathedrals to couples eloping at the Clayton courthouse. I treat every event the same- I bring the same energy and passion.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A daughter booked me to photograph Easter Day with her mother and father. The Father suffered from dementia and who was in a residential facility. The mother and daughter wanted images to capture brief glimpses the husband/father would occasionally show when he looked at them and recognized them. I was there 6 hours waiting for the brief moments the husband showed when he remembered his wife. I consider those few images my most important pictures I have taken.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Pick someone who has shown commitment to the craft of photography. For me it means they have many years of experience photographing in a variety of settings. Look through their portfolio- Do you see a variety of settings like outdoor and indoor? Can you tell if they are using flashes for indoor pictures. For me, the ultimate sign of a professional is that their images taken with flash does not look like it was using a flash. They have shown they are competent in the technical aspects of the craft.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Are they full time or weekend photographers? What cameras do they use? Professionals use professional cameras and not amateurs cameras. What is their experience of photographing in low light conditions or using off camera flash? What type of editing will they do?
