Introduction

Nobody wants to look back at a photograph of themselves looking stiff, shy and uncomfortable. Listen, I get it. Getting your photograph taken can be awkward. I like to tell my clients that the first 5 minutes of a shoot are like an awkward first date, but then it gets better. It's my job to make you feel comfortable and - maybe crack a bad joke or two - so that before long you’ll forget the camera’s there and we’re just having fun. Robert Cappa once said, “if your pictures aren’t good enough, you aren’t close enough.” To me, this doesn’t mean barking commands and staging meticulous poses in the attempt to get a perfect shot; it means creating an environment where you feel comfortable enough to let your guard down and be who you genuinely are. That's the version of you I want to photograph. I strive for authenticity with everything that I do and I’m always rooting for my clients to have the best experience.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The pricing includes the editing of the photos and the delivery of the final photos on a link where you can download the photos or order print products.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always have a chat with my clients before we do a session, I like to get an idea about my customers and who they are as people. I like to scout out the location before I shoot. Knowing where the starting point is allows me to focus on my clients during the session.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I went to school for photography and I worked in the photography business for 12 years in NYC.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started in high school with photography and had a darkroom in my garage built by my dad for the summer. As I progressed into my work, I realized how much I enjoyed working with people and photographing different events.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have done engagements, weddings, mitzvahs, maternity and corporate events.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I photographed for myself traveling in the south with a medium format film camera. Photographing film gives me a bit of a reset, and I try to use that mind frame when photographing events. I like to take a few moments before beginning an event instead of rushing through the work.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You want to make sure that you feel comfortable with your photographer, that you can be who you are in front of the camera.
