Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I take a great deal of pride in providing a top notch quality level of service and images. My prices are often competitive, perhaps leaning toward a premium service based on years of experience, creativity and expertise I like to think I bring to the table. My goal is to make sure your investment in my photography is one you're happy to make again (Headshots, Product, events) or recommend to your friends (Weddings)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First we identify what the customer is looking for and then find the package best suited to their goals. In some cases I can customize pricing to the customer if it's a product shoot or multiple subjects (like headshots for a whole office). The next step would be the customer paying the Online 50% deposit or setting up a meeting face to face (usually for weddings) to go over the details, make the deposit. Then we brainstorm or discuss any goals depending on the type of shoot. I shoot a wide range of subjects from weddings and newborns to products, events, food and fashion models, so every client is unique and is treated that way.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have 17 years experience shooting fashion, products, advertising, events, models, head shots and portraits. I have about 8 years shooting weddings, engagements, couples and family portraits. Food, pets and proposals are my three newest genres however I am bringing 17 years experience, creativity, and skills to those shoots. Every shoot is unique and every shoot borrows from skills acquired from other genres. Creativity, communication and professionalism are key.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started my career as a Photographer in the music industry working for for one of my favorite underground bands as their touring concert photographer. From there I started shooting models and fashion, which lead to clothing and products. Weddings, headshots, portraits, and events all kind of came with the territory as my skillset and goals expanded and Photography became my full time career. During the pandemic I concentrated a lot on developing my Food Photography skills and revamping my product style, both are a work in progress.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I love shooting corporate events and weddings, then headshot for a dating site or LinkedIn the next day, and a new line of jewelry for a Amazon listing at the end of the week. I shoot a wide variety but bring a unique style and creativity to each different type of client.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I have shot an event for University of Penn students, which took a day, then I provided new headshots for a Lawyer, food photography for a new restaurant, headshots for a Doctor and Nurse at two different medical facilities.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would say to really look at the images in the persons portfolio. Reviews are great as well but thumbtack only allows 10 non-verified reviews, someone like me gets work from places outside of thumbtack regularly as well and I've maxed out here. Make sure the person you want to hire photographs what you want to hire them for! Be aware of average and premium pricing and invest in the best product/service you can afford, especially for events and weddings. (Ask about payment plans!)

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I mostly just recommend reading over the photographers whole profile, being familiar with their work and rates and having the budget to match their skill and expertise.
