Introduction

I am a Rochester NY native, where I've cultivated my passion for photography since adolescence. Photography isn't just a job for me. It's what I live to do... ever since early lessons, alongside my mother at community college. Then again in high school, I took a photography class, and had my work chosen for display in the art showcase. Those foundational experiences, such as learning to master light meters and develop film in a darkroom, ignited a lifelong love for capturing beautiful moments in time. I almost exclusively shoot an Olympus SLR camera with 12 megapixels. It has a wonderful image sensor, and the right balance of manual mode settings to make it a very powerful 'real camera.' Ask about my summer special, for clients who want to travel to me for 'golden hour' photos in a park-like setting.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I no longer do most portraitures… although I will make exceptions for certain clients. I mainly focus on couple's photography, maternity photography, and bridal showers.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
What mood and scene type are you looking for? Candid or posed? Outdoors or indoors? For weddings, Natural or photojournalistic? Something for social media or something more traditional? What 3 things do you value most in how you want your photos to look?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've taken high school and college photography classes. I've worked as a real estate photographer during college. I run my own successful portrait photography business for over 4 years.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Please read my introduction...

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types of customers... even their pets.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I did a photoshoot for a family's first Christmas party. They hired a Mr. & Mrs. Claus, and it was all very convincing! It took a few hours, but I was able to get some truly memorable shots for the family.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find out whether they have a suitable camera for either indoor or outdoor photography. Try to get to know the photographer, and let the photographer know about you. The more we know, the more expressive the photos will become. Send photos of some of your favorite selfies. Some people have a preferred side of their face. This is typically the side they feel looks better due to factors like bone structure, symmetry, or just how they are used to being seen in photos. That said, photographers are usually skilled at finding the most flattering angles for the model, regardless of which side they prefer.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Question whether you need indoor or outdoor photography. Outdoor is more natural, usually better lighting than indoor. I have both a good outdoor camera and indoor camera. However, neither are weatherproof. If outdoor photos are important to you, say for a wedding- that cannot be postponed, decide to hire a photographer with a weather sealed camera). Usually, a client will want a combination of different styles, including: Traditional (looking directly at the camera) Candid (captured in the moment) Artistic (focus on composition, props, lighting) Natural / environmental (photographed in an outdoor setting) Journalistic (important for events like weddings)
