Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I work with my clients to compose a pricing package that is a win-win; in other words, the price fits their budget and I receive a fair amount as payment.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I work hands-on with clients to ensure each picture I take tells their story (plus a little flare). For all photography gigs, I first meet with clients to get a sense of their story, goals, personality, and personal style. We also decide on several logistics such as photo shoot location, price package (e.g. digital images and/or prints), contracts (to formalize our agreement...it protects clients), photo delivery, and prints/album options. After our first meeting, I routinely will send clients example images and share ideas until we decide on a particular approach/style. On the day of the photo shoot, I work very hard to exceed client expectations. Immediately after the photo shoot, I begin editing the photos. Approximately 2-4 weeks after the photo shoot, I will send digital copies of the photos to the client. Albums take 1-2 months to complete.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a self-trained photographer. I have been photographing friends and family events since elementary school. I turned semi-professional in 2010 when I began taking professional images of vegan recipes and ingredients. Many of these images were featured in my double award-winning recipe book, Raw Foods on a Budget. In 2018, I turned full professional after photographing a family wedding (I was the lead photographer) and exceeding my own picky expectations. Since then, I have had a blast photographing special moments shared between family (immediate and extended) and friends. Check out all of my photo galleries at brandirollinsphotography.com.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with couples, families (immediate and extended), individuals, and children.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did two photoshoots of women who felt like they had never taken a picture that they liked. It was such a blast showing them how truly beautiful they are.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone who really listens to what you need. In our culture, everyone is always rushing around; however, when you meet with your photographer, 100% of their attention should be on you. They should also be willing to work with you so that when you receive your photos, they have over-delivered.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about what type of photos you want. In the weddings and events I have photographed, I have loved capturing moments between extended families. However, many photographers only focus on the couple and miss capturing the love and energy of the whole event. If you want your photographer to focus on you and your partner, tell them that. If you want your photographer to focus on you and your partner, AND your family, tell them that. Also ask them about their style. Each photographer is different. Some lean towards a more modern style, others focus on a more outdoorsy style, and some like to play with light in their photography. In my photos, I LOVE TO CAPTURE THE COLOR AND DEPTH of individual(s), interactions, and surroundings. Think about your budget. What can you reasonably afford. What are the most important parts of the event that you want photographed.
