I have a tremendous amount of experience and passion that I know will be passed on and seen in your final photos. I like to be as personable as possible with my clients to allow them to be as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. Photography is and has always been my biggest passion outside of my studies. I was constantly being encouraged to start shooting engagements, weddings, headshots, etc. and eventually made the leap. I absolutely love what I do, and take great pride in my customers loving what my camera and I produce!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My portrait sessions are $300 for up to 1 hour at a location of your choice within Salt Lake City. Weddings/events vary based on number of locations, number of hours, and number of guests. However, anyone that has signed with me for a wedding, I offer an engagement and/or bridal session for $250 each ($50 off normal). Additionally, if any wedding or event is paid up front in full, I offer a 10% discount.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I typically will first speak via messenger here on Thumbtack, text, or a phone call. For weddings, I like to meet with the couple prior to the wedding at least once if I am not the engagement photographer also. For families and couples, we discuss a location, date, and time prior to the shoot and meet in person at the shoot unless otherwise requested.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have taken workshops and classes related to various aspects of photography, but most of my knowledge has been self learned. The fun thing about photography is that there is never an end to learning what you can do with it, both in camera and in post processing.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

It started in about 2008 when my dad gave me a Canon AE-1 from the 70's. It was film and gave me a unique perspective to start photography that most digital photographers don't have the opportunity or desire to experience. I began just taking nature photos as I hiked, which soon turned into a large Instagram following. After a lot of inspiration from others and lots of pushing from friends and family, I finally began doing portrait photography and have never looked back!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with just about every type of family/couple/individual you can think of. I am extremely non-judgmental and am only there to capture beautiful memories for my client.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I have done many many weddings, but I recently was able to work with a couple who were very serious about photos and how they wanted them to turn out. We worked close together from the very beginning. The wedding took me a little longer than usual to edit, but I learned new skills and was able to already begin applying what I learned from this wedding based on the bride's asks to other projects.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Choose your photographer based on experience, portfolio, and reviews...NOT BASED ON PRICE! I can't tell you how many sessions I've had that were "redos" of sessions that had done previously with an inexperienced, but cheaper, photographer.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Think through your wedding day. Will there be multiple locations? If so, how much time will there be in between those locations? How many guests will be attending and will just one photographer be enough to cover that many people? Thinking through questions like that will help you weed out photographers that are inexperienced, as well as help you think through the wedding day and make sure you have every detail planned out. It's much easier to quote a price and plan for a wedding when details like this are known!
