Introduction

My name is Shanté, and I'm a portrait photographer based in Lynchburg, VA, and the surrounding areas. I love working with couples, families, and graduating seniors. I've loved photography for as long as I can remember, and as a child, I was the one behind the lens taking pictures at family events. Then, in 2019, I took a leap of faith and started my business. I've been loving it ever since! I'm passionate about creating timeless photos for my clients to help them preserve their memories for a lifetime. My photography style is natural, and not overly posed. I give helpful direction but allow my clients to have fun with it and let their unique personalities shine through. I am always eager to help make your creative vision come to life. Whether location or time of the day, clothing or colors, I'll be there to help you smooth out the details. If you resonate with this, then I just might be the photographer for you. Send me a quick message, I'd love to be in touch!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I provide three package choices tailored to your needs for every session type. Choose a standard package for brief photoshoots, an intermediate package for extended time, or a deluxe package for additional time, possible locations, and outfit changes.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Once you inquire, I respond to get an understanding of basic details such as the type of photography needed, date, and location. If these basic details align, I follow up via email or phone to gather more information, discuss your vision, expectations, and any specific requirements. I'll share more about my photography process and style and answer any questions you may have. After this, we will finalize pricing and you will receive a contract and invoice to officially book your session. Next, I send over information to help you prepare for the session. This includes a location guide (if necessary), a wardrobe guide, and a brief client questionnaire. On the day of the session or event, I arrive early and we begin shooting. I guide you with poses and give helpful prompts to make the session fun and relaxing. Portrait sessions are returned within 1-2 weeks and weddings or events are returned within 5-8 weeks. Your photos are delivered via Pixieset with instructions for downloading, sharing, and ordering prints.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a self-taught photographer. I took classes in high school and discovered a love for photography. I ran with that passion, honing my abilities by practicing on family and friends. I expanded my knowledge by exploring various techniques through online courses, articles, and video resources.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As a child, I was the one "behind the lens" taking photos of my family and friends. As time went on, I learned more and perfected my craft through formal courses, reading, and online tutorials. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and began my business. I've been loving it ever since!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a wide variety of customers. I particularly enjoy photographing couples, creative portrait sessions, graduations, and weddings.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would encourage customers to do their research and know what they require before hiring a photographer. Definitely ask a lot of questions so that you and your photographer are on the same page at all times!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would suggest that you think about the result that you're hoping to achieve and find a photographer that aligns with your needs. Consider asking about your photographer's process - do they prefer photographing more traditional portraits, is their work more candid, or a little bit of both? It's also great to ask to see a photographer's portfolio and galleries, especially if you are booking a bigger event like a wedding.
