Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Very simply jobs are generally all different. I like to quote them specific to the clients expectations. An all day commercial job will be priced differently than a corporate headshot or family session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Most importantly I want to know what their objectives and goals are. That will ensure success and happiness all around. Also it allows me to be better prepared for the photo shoot.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been a photographer for over 25 years. I keep up with the latest photography trends, including cameras and software. I teach photography and how to use software (photoshop, lightroom) at a college level.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It was my desire to be a photographer from a very young age. Fortunately I have been very successful in this profession.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I shoot a lot of people for personal and professional use. Often a CEO or staff. I am equipped with a studio to shoot products as well as people. I shoot on location as well. I do quite a bit of facilities photography including aerials. I am very good with mixed lighting situations. I am also a professional instructor/mentor of Photography as well as Photoshop.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I take pride in all my projects. I especially like photographing people and exceeding their expectations.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
For a photographer, receiving an accurate assessment of the project from the client is paramount. Providing similar samples can also be beneficial for clarity. When prioritizing quality, seek out a photographer with ample experience. Review their portfolio for work that aligns with your specific needs, as not every photographer is adept at every type of project, especially those involving mixed lighting situations. Creating a realistic shot list to share with the photographer beforehand can greatly streamline the preparation process for your project. When requesting a quote, opt for a comprehensive approach by asking for pricing "on the project" rather than relying on outdated "day rates," benefiting both parties involved. Prior to the scheduled shoot, ensure that all relevant parties on your end are fully prepared and informed. Lack of readiness, often due to uninformed employees, can lead to unnecessary delays and disruptions.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
