Tuition is due in full the first lesson of each month, for the number of lessons to be given that month. Rates, for a monthly block of lessons, are based upon $50 per hour; $30 per half hour: “Four-week” months: $200 for four one-hour lessons $120 for four ½ hour lessons “Five-week” months: $250 for five one-hour lessons $150 for five ½ hour lessons Students may not pro-rate monthly tuition payments for any reason other than the instructor’s cancellation(s). Checks which are not written for the full and proper amount cannot be accepted, and instruction will be withheld; full tuition for the monthly timeslot, including payment for any lessons withheld will be expected before instruction can resume. Lessons withheld due to late payment will not be made up or credited. In the event you must miss the first lesson of the month, please send your payment to my home address for delivery before the second lesson of the month

I've been a professor of guitar at five universities since 1994. Extensive performing history, including many years as first call guitarist with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, WV Public Theatre; touring experience with top 40, southern rock, and jazz ensembles; Diploma in Professional Music, Berklee; M.M., Music Theory, Duquesne University; Post Graduate studies in Music Theory, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I was performing much more frequently until the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period, there was an enormous boom in guitar sales. Also, during that time, the theatres where I did most of my performances had been ordered to close. Thankfully, I began to receive many calls for guitar instruction, and it was a logical and natural transition from performing to full-time teaching.

Beginner through professional levels, I prefer those with a serious interest seeking a serious approach. Teens through retirees. All styles.

Several years touring and local performing experience with rock and cover bands.

Many factors are important in selecting a teacher. Are they still active and respected as a performing musician? Do they have a track record of success with students? How extensive is their teaching history / credentials? Do you think that this particular instructor can address your unique interests or musical needs? Consider that a low rate "bargain" teacher might be a huge waste of time any money over the long haul, and make sure you have an instructor who seems to have a structured "path" for you.
