For 20+ years, I have been part of Cairo’s diverse music scene, performing live with a variety of musical acts and teaching drums to students for 12+ years. I’ve had the opportunity to learn and play different genres with a particular affinity for rock, jazz/funk, electronic music and Egyptian percussion, having been the drummer for The American University in Cairo Arab music ensemble for many years.
I am super passionate about drumming and it is important that lessons are fun and engaging. I like to mix up the content of the class and am flexible as to the student’s objectives and needs.
I like to talk in terms of concepts and approach to drumming, both mentally and physically, in order to visualize and simplify ideas. I am quite detail oriented when it comes to foundational technique with a strong belief that understanding rhythmic relations and styles is key to significantly faster improvement.
-Learn basic to advanced drumming skills: technique, independence, orchestration and understand different musical styles of drumming.
-Choose to focus on drum kit, Egyptian percussion (tabla/darbuka, duf) or both.
-All skill levels welcome (ages 5+)
-Taught in a safe, fun environment in Upper Rockridge.
