Introduction

I bring over 40 years of experience playing and performing on a variety of instruments, as well as a deep understanding of music theory. My approach is first and foremost to make the experience of learning music fun. I enjoy meeting new people, creating and fostering excitement about music, and watching musicianship take shape in all of my students as they progress through their instruments.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer many different services, so the standards are different for each. For example, i charge $30 for a 30-minute lesson, $45 for a 60-minute lesson. My charges for providing entertainment services vary based on the individual requirement.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first few sessions are as much to get to know one another as they are to impart real learning. After an initial assessment, I try as much as possible to gear the lessons towards what the student hopes to accomplish, rather than what i believe should happen.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Sac State (2013) and have had over 40 years of experience as a musician and educator.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began teaching in 2013 after a 30+ career in professional audio and video sales. This decision was a direct result of my completing a Bachelor of Music degree with a specialty in Music Education.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with children as young as 7 and adults as old as 70. People of all ages are interested in music lessons, and I have the ability to work with just about anyone.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Music students are ongoing "projects." One of my students is a young man who began with bass lessons but quickly demonstrated an interest in music theory. He is an ongoing project, and as he progresses, he will be far ahead of his peers when he encounters his first theory classes in high school.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When you describe yourself, be honest and realistic about your goals. Choose a teacher (provider) that fits your outlook on what you are trying to accomplish. Veteran, experienced teachers such as myself are often better for younger children, as we have the patience necessary to guide young minds and fingers.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What do you want to accomplish? How much time are you willing to put into practicing the instrument you are learning? How will this activity fit into the rest of your daily life?
