Introduction

The passion I have for my vocal students has become the highlight and joy of my singing career. I’m a classically trained Broadway veteran, recording and Cabaret artist and I understand the importance of solid vocal technique and performance/audition skills. If you are someone who wants to expand their voice and repertoire and have a blast doing it then I’m your teacher. I’m energetic, creative and absolutely love what I do. My goal is to guide you to excellence! I teach all ages 5- 90 plus. I offer half hour, forty five minute and hourly sessions in my Temecula, California private studio or online through FaceTime.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My studio fee's are $75 for the hour, $60 for 45 minutes and $40 for the half hour. I do offer packages. Kindly go to my website to set up your session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Once a weekly session and time has been established, I assess the ability of the student. From there I introduce or reintroduce the basic's- breathing, vocal exercise and how it relates to the physical body. Then we move to music! I listen to whatever the student is interested in, and then I make suggestions on how to achieve that goal. It's always very inspiring to be apart of my students vocal growth while teaching the fundamentals of voice training.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As a professional singer I have studied voice for 40 years! My earlier classical training was with my mentor, the late Maurice Allard. Since then, I have studied with Guy Babusek (The Institute of Voice Advancement), the amazing Robert Sussman and Tom Berke both in New York. My vocal education combined with my own professional career experience is a culmination of these master teachers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Singing has been my passion my entire life and I wanted to share my knowledge as a professional singer to those wishing to learn as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I love working with anyone who wants to learn. That said, I teach and have taught every age and level of singer. I am especially good with children and young adults and those preparing for musical theater and college auditions. I have successful students working in New York or in theater, recording artists, actors or those who just love singing in church and at home. All types of singers and all levels.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Just last month (8/18) I recorded a series of 30 songs for children kindergarten through 3rd grade for The Harmony Project. This exciting project is designed to introduce young underprivileged children in intercity districts to music. The neuroscience has proven that children exposed to music in their formative years go on to higher education. I really loved being apart of something truly great for children. My most recent recording was the singing voice of Scarlett O'Hara for a revival of the musical Gone With The Wind by Margret Martin. The theme song, "Gone with The Wind" was featured on a compilation CD for a London record label, Stage Door Records and BBC's Elaine Page featured it on her radio station. Great fun!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My best advice is to listen to how the voice teacher sings. Is the teacher's singing voice unstrained and easy to listen too? Does the voice lesson with the teacher inspire you? Do you feel comfortable with the teacher? Does your voice feel healthy (doesn't hurt) after your lesson? If the answer to those questions is yes, then you have a solid teacher. If the teacher can play the piano and wants you to sing "louder" and offers no ability to show you how to sing and/or correct or guide you through your singing then don't go back.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
A new student just needs to understand that the voice is a muscle- one that needs to be nurtured and cared for properly. A lot happens in the throat area such as eating, drinking, breathing, speaking, talking, emotional expression as well as singing! I require my students to practice 3-4 times a week for at least 20-30 minutes and to avoid screaming in amusement parks or talking over loud concerts. I go over vocal care but my students feel it when there has been a bit of vocal abuse on their part. It's all part of the learning curve. Generally my students see a real improvement in three to four weeks if they follow the given vocal protocol.
