What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I work to keep my prices low to ensure that all who want the opportunity to take private lessons can. Music should not be a privilege!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I enjoy the opportunity to talk with the parent prior to our first lesson so I have a better understanding of the family's musical goals and any special needs that may apply. Our first lesson is always kinesthetic so the student has a chance to familiarize themselves with the piano in a tangible way.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been teaching piano for 18 years and I have 5 years classroom experience. I have been playing piano for 30 years, but both of my degrees are in percussion.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Early on, teaching wasn’t even on my radar. I was asked by a friend to help with their summer drumline one year and it was a life changing experience! I can't imagine doing anything else!

What types of customers have you worked with?

My focus is on students 5-12 but have taught all ages. I have several years experience working with children with exceptionalities.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We do a spring recital every May and we share our gifts at a nursing home every year just before Christmas.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the teacher is a good fit for your child! When the learning is FUN for them they learn by leaps and bounds!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Do you have a piano or keyboard available? Does your child show a real interest? Do you have the time to help keep their practicing on track? Are you ready to watch your child grow into a beautiful little musician?!
