Introduction

I teach (in person or online) out of my studio in beautiful Sebastian , Florida. I have been teaching music since 1989 and have played in orchestras since 4th grade and currently play the cello in church...my whole family is musical! My parents are both professional musicians, so I grew up around music! My goal is to share my love of music with students of all ages by making lessons fun!! I teach using traditional methods, tailored to the student's specific interests. I am a former preschool teacher and minored in music. I am very patient and enjoy the challenge each new student brings and love teaching children and adults alike. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I teach 60, 45 and 30 minute lessons. ($60 an hour) I offer discounts to seniors as well as discounts for siblings

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I get to know the students at the first few lessons and together we pick the best books to use, and discuss future goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I grew up in a musical family (I used to watch my mother teach piano. She also taught music at American University), I studied cello with my father, who is a professional cellist and played for many artists, innagurations and many other places . I've played in orchestras since 4th grade, I currently play cello in church (and occasionally accompany on the piano and sing), I've taught preschool for 20 years and hold a BA in early childhood education....I am very patient and enjoy challenges....I always strive to find each individual student's learning style. I have been the chair for the piano guild in CA and in FL

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I first started teaching the preschoolers piano where I worked, and then grew my business into teaching both instruments full time! I had 45 students while living in CA!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have taught 4 year olds up to age 80. I have also taught piano to children with different learning difficulties. At the moment I am teaching a father and his 5 year old son together! They have a 60 minute lesson every week. Its alot of fun.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I enjoy all of my students. I especially enjoy it when I have finally found a way to get a new concept across to them!! That's a great feeling. 😁

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for a teacher who is flexible, patient, and kind. Finding a teacher your child likes is key!
