Hello! My name is Sam Hagen. I provide voice and piano lessons to students in Twin Cities area. I'm passionate about high quality music making and teaching. Lessons are a time for each student to grow individually both inside and outside the studio. I received a Bachelor of Music degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Students can take lessons in-studio or in-home. Music is the artistic pulse of life and everyone should benefit!

My studio is located in Richfield, MN. I offer in-studio and online lessons. I teach contemporary (jazz, blues, folk, pop, country, etc) and classical music. My specialties are jazz and improvisation. My students are performing musicians, casual musicians, beginners, composers & songwriters. They sing, play piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar and banjo. Each of my students has a personal page on my website providing them with easy access to their lesson materials. I have a unique, fun and effective way of teaching music. My teaching methods are heavily influenced by my time at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I offer a family discount as well as several prepaid multi-lesson discounts. They all have music degrees or equivalent work experience, and they are positive and professional with their students. And best yet, they come to you! Our teachers have passed a background check, and they have made it through an audition screen. We don't hire just anyone - we make sure they understand music theory, and they are top notch players. I am a professor emeritus of music from Texas Woman's University from which I retired and returned to my home state of Minnesota.
