Introduction

My name is Ona, and I’m a musical theater performer and voice teacher. I’d love to help you get started on your singing and/or acting career! I'm multilingual so we can do classes in English, Spanish, or Catalan! I usually teach in a studio in Midtown Manhattan but due to COVID-19 I’m offering online lessons only.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have a cancellation policy of 48h in advance, if not respected there’s a full lesson fee or we can reschedule for the same week. ALL missed lessons (no-shows with no notice) will be charges as a full lesson unless rescheduled before the class. All late reschedules are based on availability.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
VOICE LESSONS: On our first session together we will establish your vocal level, your vocal range, singing goals and a plan to accomplish those goals. ACTING LESSONS: On our first session together we will establish acting goals, and we will dive into Meisner (repetitions, cold reads, etcetera), then I will assign you a monologue to work on.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
VOICE LESSONS: I have been singing for 15 years. I started in choir and went on to get my singing education and to do musical theater. I am a semi-finalist of the 2020 edition of “So You Think You Can Belt”. I have been teaching voice for 3 years. ACTING LESSONS: I have been acting for 17 years. I started performing in plays when I was a kid and have gone on to perform, write, and produce my own play (Reunited with a Stranger) in NYC and perform with my sketch team Rococo every month in NYC. I am trained in Meisner from Matthew Corozine Studios and in Improv from Magnet Theater.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
At first, I started helping my dancer and actor friends with singing auditions, and this developed into teaching them and eventually, other people.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve been very fortunate and have worked with all types of students, from kids, to seniors, from absolute beginners to advanced individuals.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I helped a student prepare a song for her wedding, another one with college auditions (singing, and acting), and I helped another student with her 1st album.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure that the voice teacher has studied vocal anatomy and technique so they don't contribute to poor vocal habits that will end up hurting your voice.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are my vocal/acting goals? How much time am I willing to put into it?
