Introduction

Hello! My name is Treyan. I offer a free introductory lesson in which I demonstrate the unique method that I teach, and how it is different from all other teaching styles. I teach piano, but with an emphasis on improvisation, arrangement, and songwriting, using theory as the foundation. This teaching method gives the student a thorough understanding of musical theory, while at the same time allowing them to learn in a very creative environment. Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in a free intro lesson. Cheers!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer an introductory lesson for free, with no further obligation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First is to see if it's a good fit. And then find out their goals, and set a plan to accomplish those.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
10,000 plus hours of practice, performing, teaching, research, writing, composing, arranging, producing, publishing, etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I taught music for Davis School District and Bravo Arts Academy, before deciding to go off on my own many years ago. I saw a need for a more creative (less traditional) approach to teaching piano, which allows the student to learn all the necessary music theory, but also how to apply it through arrangement, improvisation, and songwriting.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Mostly adults and teenagers. A number of my students have taken piano lessons for many years through more traditional channels, either recently or in the past, before coming to me. And my unique and creative method opens up an entirely new set of possibilities for their piano playing. But I also teach students who are just starting out as well.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I replaced the window regulator in my car, and it only took a few hours :) Since this question is not as applicable to teaching music lessons, I thought I would go off page here a bit with this one. But it is a true story of a recent DIY project, and I'm proud of it!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Do diligent research, and go try them out before making a decision. Many teachers will offer a free introductory lesson to see if it's a good fit, for both the teacher and the student. I certainly do! Not sure if my style and method is a good fit for you? Reach out and I'll get you in for a free intro lesson if you would like. And no pressure or obligation beyond that! I'd love to meet you and hear about your music goals, along with demonstrating the unique method I use, regardless of whether you decide to go forward with lessons or not. Cheers!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What do YOU want out of pursuing lessons with music? (The answers can be quite varied) And...how can a particular teacher assist you in achieving those music goals?
