Introduction

I studied at Juilliard and am an expert in the music industry. My studio offers everything a student needs to succeed: Free Consultation - figuring out what the best option is for you is essential for reaching your goals efficiently. We offer free consultation to make students feel more equipped when making decisions, which in turn makes teachers and music stores more likely to nail satisfying your needs. Customizable Schedule Options - Weekly lessons are just one of many ways you can structure your schedule. We tailor the regularity and types of lessons around your schedule and availability so you decide how music fits into your calendar! Some options students have picked are: bi-weekly, 3 weeks and the 4th week off, twice a week. Forgiving Cancellation Policy - Life happens and we understand that. Our policy makes sure you get the most out of your enrollment by offering free makeups with large rescheduling windows and refunds for long breaks. Read our studio guidelines policy on our website. The Ultimate Practice Guide - Learning in a lesson requires focus on a lot of things: reading, playing, listening, reflecting, making unfamiliar adjustments. As the teacher, I understand that not all advice is immediately absorbed or even memorized, and there's no time for note taking. That's where the practice guide comes in. Instead of trying to recall everything from lesson after the fact on your own, I write the lesson notes for you so you have the best lesson summary possible: the teacher's. These guides are provided after each lesson to improve the quality of your practice sessions between lessons. Personalized Music Arrangements - Getting to play music you connect with is essential in getting fulfilment out of playing as well as motivating practicing regularly. Finding an arrangement of that music that fits your skill level can be a challenge, and often times there isn't an arrangement you'd need out there at all. We write custom arrangements tailored to your level so you get access to music you want with the guarantee that it'll fit your skill level. Unmatched Virtual Experience - The pros of online is no travel time and therefore a more convenient scheduling experience, not to mention the advantage of studying with any teacher across the entire world, expanding your options beyond what's local. For years we've worked on addressing the common complaints people have had with virtual learning and are proud to offer an online learning environment unlike anything you've experienced. Crisp audio quality, seamless interaction, engaging visual learning. See for yourself by booking a free tour of our virtual studio.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We offer a wide range of options for students. The monthly tuition you can expect varies drastically depending on which service you choose and how often its scheduled. We highly recommend scheduling a free consultation to help determine which services are the best fit for your goals. Privates Lesson: 1hr - $110 45m - $85 30m - $60 Masterclass: $40 Playing Review: $20

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First, I recommend taking advantage of a free consultation session that I offer to new students. It gives me a chance to learn more about your goals and expectations, as well as an opportunity for you to learn about what options are available for you and the advantages of each. After that, the first lesson called the trial lesson is an opportunity for us to see if I'm a good fit for you and for me to get to know you or your kid and of course to teach you some basics if you are starting out, or to provide you with my comments and recommendations. Because there is always a chance that I'm not a good fit for you or your kid, I offer the trial at 50% off my usual rate. Aside from the consultation session and trial lesson, you will also receive a practice guide outlining what and how to practice between now and the next lesson, tailored to you and your current level so that practicing isn't daunting and frustrating, and instead is fun and exciting! I'll also give you any sheet music of etudes I recommend, including materials that I have designed to help students learn skills quickly and efficiently. If you are new, I'll also give you suggestions on where to obtain an instrument and how to take care of one.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I studied at Juilliard with Naoko Tanaka and many extremely successful musicians throughout my studies. If you’d like my full CV, *********************************

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
With so much I was doing in music, I met many people and learned a lot especially from music festivals and masterclasses I attended and played in. This gave me lots of insight and I was already helping classmates in school with school work and music learning in orchestra, so it just made the most sense! I've loved teaching as long as I can remember, and am always looking for ways to improve my method to better help students reach their goals!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've taught young children ages all the way from 3 yrs old through to the elderly. I've also taught chamber groups like piano trios and string quartets, orchestra sectionals for different string instruments and big group violin lessons.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I've had a student that was young and quite virtuosic who didn't have the best foundation, but a lot of talent. I was able to help her build a stronger foundation and accelerate her playing ability and it was very exciting to see her improve!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Research the teacher you're considering. Find recordings of their playing. See if you connect with their music and their philosophies. Trial lessons are extremely valuable. Even if you don't end up going with the teacher, you may learn a lot about what the perfect fit looks like for you and will make it way more likely that you end up with the right teacher for you. The teacher you pick can make all the difference in your relationship with music and practicing!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Figure out what your goals and expectations are, and make a decision about how much time you'd like to be spending between lessons practicing and how much you'd be willing to spend monthly on tuition. These parameters make it much easier to find a teacher that will fit your needs and will save you from potentially wasting both time and money on trial lessons with teachers that might just not be able to help you with what you care about within your budget.
