Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
For people who are serious about committing to working with me, I offer a complementary intro session so that you can try it out and we can decide if we want to work together.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
So this is how it works: If you're interested in private yoga lessons, contact me to schedule a brief 15 minute intro call so I can get a feel for who you are - your challenges, needs, and desired results. On our phone call we can schedule your complementary 1 hour intro session. After the intro session, you have the option to work with me 1-3 times per week, and buy a class package.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Shiva Yoga Peeth, School of Yoga -- Rishikesh, India: 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certified by Yoga Alliance Dhamma 10-Day Vipassana Meditation Course--Dehradun, India 120 Hours of silent meditation & discourse in 10 days CPR Certification -- Oakland, CA Project Heartbeat BS: Industrial & Systems Engineering--University of Southern California

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In 2010, I started attending weekly yoga classes while working a high stress office job in Los Angeles and experienced drastic improvements in my mind, body, and quality of life. The benefits were so profound, that in 2012, I left this stressful job, and moved to Asia to dedicate myself to the study of this ancient practice and living my best life. For the next 20 months, my journey led me across 8 countries in SE Asia and ultimately to Rishikesh, India - the birthplace of yoga - where I completed a teacher training at Shiva Yoga Peeth School of Yoga. I returned to the USA with a new mission: to help people thrive.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with both private clients and corporate partners. I have taught group yoga classes for technology companies in the Bay Area such as AppDynamics in San Francisco or wellness companies such as Premier Nutrition in Emeryville. Most of my private clients are successful mid-career professionals who need help managing their high stress levels and improving their health and wellness. I am very patient, and I love working with beginners who have little to no yoga experience. As a male teacher, some men feel more comfortable working with me than they might with a female teacher, but I like to teach both men and women. Some of my clients want to focus more on increasing their physical fitness and flexibility while others have more specific body pains in the hips, back, or neck for which they need a more therapeutic approach. I work with lots of technology professionals in the Bay Area, but I have also worked with lawyers, doctors, marketing directors, event managers, project managers, financiers, humanitarians, school teachers, somatic therapists, and other wellness professionals.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
In February 2020, East Bay Private Yoga partnered up with other local wellness professionals to put on a yoga fundraising event for BuildOn - an organization that builds schools to empower impoverished communities around the world. We successfully raised enough funds to construct a school in a village in Senegal all while delivering high quality yoga and ayurveda classes to our local community.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When searching for a yoga teacher, make sure that their guidance emphasizes correct postural alignment, and breath awareness. These are the most fundamental components of a solid yoga practice. Use your intuition. You will feel a positive connection with the right teacher for you.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before contacting a private yoga teacher, pause and ask yourself: 1) What areas of my life do I need to improve in? 2) What results do I want to gain from a yoga practice? 3) Am I committed to achieving these results?
