Introduction

I’m Veronica Grant, a private yoga teacher for athletes and busy professionals based in Voorhees, NJ. When it comes to teaching yoga, I’m no newbie. I’ve taught yoga since 2007, and focus on form and alignment so that the practice is more accessible. If the standard studio classes hurt your wrists or you never feel like you’re flexible enough for class, you’re not alone. Most yoga teachers are not trained specifically in special populations where prior injuries, age, or abilities may limit you in standard expressions of poses. I know my private clients bodies and limitation and come prepared with a plan and plenty of props to make the practice work for you, rather than the other way around. One of the best things about yoga is that it isn’t just a practice for your body. It’s a practice for your mindset, focus, productivity, and ability to be present with what matters most in your life. Yoga can help you get here, and under my watchful eye, I know it will for you too.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My clients commit to working with me long-term, once or twice a week.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with a quick phone call to discuss your goals, where you'd like sessions to take place, scheduling, and pricing. If it all sounds good, we'll schedule your Introductory Session. This is a one-time yoga session where I assess your needs and where you are right now. From there, if we agree to continue working together, we find a package of sessions that feels right to you, and I develop our plan to help you reach your goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance (RYT) and have taken numerous advanced training courses, including trauma-informed yoga, embodiment work, cueing and adjustments, meditation and breathwork, and more.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've been teaching yoga for over 15 years. But how did I get into yoga at all: I have a typical type-A personality, and as such, can be incredibly hard on myself. I typically expected nothing less than perfect. This lead to a lot of stress, anxiety, and burnout, even as far back as highschool. That's when I took my first yoga class. I went because I heard it was a 'good workout.' But I left before savasana because even at 16, I didn't have that kind of time for a 'nap.' One day I stayed for savasana, and I drifted off to sleep. I woke up mortified as everyone else was packing up. But that began my process of realizing that I was exhausted, and my body just did what she needed to do. Over the next many years, I started to get more serious with my practice, and it quickly became my #1 tool to stay present, mindful, and calm in my life. I consider myself to be a recovering perfectionist, and while I still do have big dreams and goals in my life, yoga has taught me to pursue them in a more compassionate and loving way.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have taught professional athletes, s-suite executives, start-up founders, stay-at-home moms, and more.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure to only work with a teacher that wants to interview you first. You want to make sure that you are the perfect fit for them (and they the perfect teacher for you). If you have needs or special circumstances for which the teacher can't provide a solution or isn't qualified, then you won't have a happy working relationship. You don't want to be a client of a teacher who will take anybody. If you are the perfect fit, you will get every penny's worth in your investment.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How have they helped other people with your situation/condition/injury?
