I believe that fitness can be a fun, challenging, lifelong endeavor for everyone. My doctorate in education and a masters in exercise physiology help me understand the teaching and learning process with a greater depth, and my 15+ years of experience as a fitness instructor, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, and teacher have helped me develop a toolkit to work with a diverse variety of people. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I always offer free consultations to new clients to ensure we are a good mutual fit before discussing pricing options.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
If the initial consultation is successful and we are a good mutual fit, we dive in and discuss your goals and establish your baseline. This is where I can help you develop a realistic timeline for sustainable changes and lasting results in your health and fitness.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a doctorate in higher education (EdD), a Masters degree in Health & Human Performance with a minor in Exercise Physiology (MS), and a variety of accredited fitness certifications including: National Strength and Containing Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Instructor and Health Coach I have been working with clients in various capacities as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, athletic coach, and health coach since 2005.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I always loved being active and find myself in a "flow state" when I'm engaged in helping others. The fitness profession was a natural fit for me!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've been lucky to work with all sorts of people! Active adults, preschoolers, college students, recreational and college athletes, and the elderly population. I also work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I feel really passionate about getting the perfect fit between client and coach - you can see a blog post I wrote about it called "5 Tips to pick your personal trainer" on my website. I encourage clients to ask themselves the following questions: What are my goals? What is my time, financial, and mental commitment level? What kind of trainer do I want? What can a trainer offer me that I can't get from a regular gym or pre-packaged fitness program?
