Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At Freedom Shield Legal, I offer both flat-rate and hourly pricing depending on the nature of the legal work. Flat-rate services are available for well-defined matters like business formation, contract drafting, and document preparation. For ongoing or complex matters, I bill hourly. I am transparent with all pricing up front - there are no hidden fees - and I always work with clients to find a structure that fits their needs and budget.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The process starts with a free consultation to understand the client’s goals, needs, and the legal scope of the matter. From there, I outline a clear plan of action and discuss whether a flat-rate or hourly structure makes the most sense. Once we agree on terms, I provide an engagement letter and begin work promptly, maintaining regular communication and clear timelines throughout the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a licensed attorney with years of experience serving as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for businesses and nonprofits. My background includes transactional law, regulatory compliance, contracts, employment matters, and advising executive leadership. I bring both legal expertise and real-world business judgment to every client engagement.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began my legal career serving as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a national company, where I handled everything from contracts and employment issues to regulatory compliance and risk management. That experience showed me how valuable proactive legal guidance can be for growing businesses, entrepreneurs, and ministries - so I launched Freedom Shield Legal to provide that same level of strategic counsel to others.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a wide range of clients, including small business owners, startups, nonprofit organizations, churches and ministries, real estate professionals, and independent contractors. Whether it is forming a new business, drafting contracts, navigating compliance, or handling employment and real estate matters, I tailor my legal services to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project I am especially proud of was helping a church launch a new elementary school. I oversaw the entire process - from preparing and submitting the application to the local school board, to ensuring compliance with all regulatory and operational requirements. The project took several months and involved close coordination with church leadership, educators, and local officials. It was incredibly rewarding to help turn their vision into a reality and lay a strong legal foundation for the school’s success.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone who not only understands the law but also understands your world - whether that is business, ministry, or nonprofit work. A good attorney should be clear about fees, proactive in communication, and focused on protecting your long-term interests, not just handling short-term tasks. Do not be afraid to ask questions up front and make sure the attorney offers practical, real-world guidance - not just legal theory.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before speaking with a legal professional, it is important to think through the key goals of your project, what you are hoping to achieve, and what potential risks or concerns you want to avoid. Consider who the key parties are, whether there are any deadlines or time-sensitive aspects, and what your expectations are in terms of budget and scope. The more clarity you have going in, the more focused and effective the legal support can be.
