Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I usually offer a flat fee for my services, so the client will not have to worry about being billed for speaking with me or texting as most other attorneys do.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I will speak with the client to see what their goals are and what concerns they have regarding their elderly relatives and or their estate plans. I ask them to fill out a few short questionnaires and once done I can begin the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law and an advanced law degree (LLM) in Elder Law (Honors) from Stetson University College of Law. I am also licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I had personal experiences with older relatives that did not plan for their future and to age in place in their homes (which is usually the preference). This caused a great hardship on them and their immediate relatives, so I decided to help others plan for their elder years.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all age ranges of clients who need their estate plans done. From estates worth 50k to ones in the 12 million dollar range.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did a review of a clients estate planning documents which were over 20 years old (I recommend updating every 10-15 years). During my review I found that several of the key documents were not valid as they had not been signed properly. I alerted the clients and updated all of their documents. This was a great load off of their minds. This project took one week to complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure that the attorney listens to all of your concerns and comes up with solutions that fit all of your needs and concerns.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are your concerns as far as your estate goes and what are your preferences when you get into your retirement years as far as your living and care situations.
