Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Get several bids. Be careful with “cheap” bids, they are usually cheap for a reason.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Meet with a customer, get an idea of what they are wanting, offer suggestions, do design drawings, work up a price for the work, sign contracts, start to work.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
40 years with great mentors who wanted things done right.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Learned in the field from my father and father-in-law, now going on 40 years.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Customers who know everything about the process, to customers that have never hired anyone for anything, to Realtors, to large commercial projects with engineers. No matter what your experience is, we will help you through the process.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I love stuff out of the norm.😁

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check on the contractor’s past work, make sure he’s licensed in the area of work you are wanting, get everything in writing on the work that you’re wanting done. The bidding process, drawings (unless you have to have an engineer stamped drawings), working up a bid - should not cost you anything. Be careful with contractors who want money up front to look at a job or bid a job.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think through the project you’re wanting, draw it on paper - even if it’s free hand just to get an idea of what you’re wanting. Think about what kind of materials you would like to use. The contractor should be able to help you through the technical stuff and drawing the project to scale.
