Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing is transparent and tailored to each project. We provide detailed estimates that cover both design and construction, with no hidden fees. While we don’t offer standard discounts, we do help clients stay on budget by offering value-driven options and smart design solutions. Everything is customized — no one-size-fits-all packages.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with a complimentary consultation to understand your vision, goals, and timeline. From there, we move into a design phase, where Sharon creates a concept plan and selects materials with you. Once approved, Guy and our in-house crew handle the full build — no subcontractors, no miscommunication. We manage every step, from permits to final walkthrough.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I bring a strong background in design and space planning, while Guy has over 20 years of hands-on experience in construction and project management. Together, we’ve completed hundreds of residential remodels and continue to stay updated on the latest design trends, materials, and building codes.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Sharon began her career in the stone industry, working closely with architects, designers, and contractors to bring their visions to life. She fell in love with the process of transforming spaces — not just making them beautiful, but truly functional. Guy was a stone specialist and trainer, mentoring contractors both locally and internationally. His deep knowledge of materials and craftsmanship made him a trusted resource in the industry. After working together on several personal projects, we realized we made a great team — one that could bring homeowners a seamless, design-to-build experience. We wanted to offer people something rare in remodeling: peace of mind. So, we launched Sharon Stone Design — a woman-owned, family-operated firm built for busy homeowners who want expert guidance, honest communication, and stunning results from start to finish.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We’ve worked with a diverse range of clients — from busy professionals and growing families to retirees and real estate investors. However, we especially enjoy working with busy homeowners who appreciate having a trusted team handle everything from design to build. We believe in working as one team with our clients, keeping communication open and decisions collaborative. Many of our clients return to us for additional projects or refer their friends and family — a true testament to the trust, transparency, and results we’ve built across Silicon Valley

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One of our favorite projects began with something simple — a small countertop replacement in a home in Los Altos Hills. The clients were so pleased with the results and the experience that they decided to continue working with us. What started as a small update turned into a full design and remodel of all five bathrooms in their home. As busy professionals with demanding careers, they trusted us completely to manage the process while they focused on their work and family. Their confidence in us continued to grow — and after completing the bathrooms, we also designed and built their pool house. Throughout the process, a genuine friendship formed. Today, they’re not just valued clients — they’re part of the Sharon Stone Design family.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for a boutique design and construction company that offers a personalized, one-on-one experience. Working with a firm that handles everything under one roof — from design to build — not only saves time and money, it also eliminates the stress of juggling multiple vendors. Choose a company that’s licensed, insured, and most importantly, committed to clear communication and trust. At Sharon Stone Design, we pride ourselves on being woman-owned and family-operated, with a dedicated in-house team — no subcontractors. That means consistency, accountability, and a relationship you can rely on from start to finish. Sharon Stone Design - We don’t just remodel homes — we build relationships that last for many years to come.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before starting your project, take time to think about more than just the design and budget. Ask yourself: - Do I feel comfortable with this contractor? - Can I trust them inside my home and around my family? - Do they really care about my project — or is it just another job to them? It’s important to get to know your contractor on a personal level. Don’t be afraid to meet with them more than once before making your decision. This relationship is just as personal as it is professional — and you should feel confident, respected, and heard. Remember, it’s not about the cheapest bid — it’s about working with a company that treats your home like their own. You can hire a contractor, but you can't train them to care. Choose someone who brings expertise and heart.
