Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Because we are a small family owned business our prices are typically average or lower. We feel being paid a week in advance allows us to be efficient in covering our costs yet it isn’t too much of a risk to our customer.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. Meet for 20-30 minutes at the project site in order to offer ideas and gather info for estimate. 2. Reserve a start date and projected finish date. 3. Sign a contract binding both our company and the customer’s intent. 4. Start and finish project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
A.S. Degree in engineering. Class C Residential Builders License #6614 allowing us to do any work up to 3 stories. Our plumbers and electricians are licensed as well.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was enrolled in the civil engineering program at CSU when I was invited to build decks for the summer. I greatly enjoyed creating and building things that homeowners enjoyed. That following winter I did 2 large kitchen remodels and a basement remodel and greatly enjoyed them as well. So we decided to create a construction company focussed on interior remodels! 😃

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types. Those who know exactly what they want to those who need some help figuring that out. We are very flexible!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We were recently asked to finish a 750 sq ft basement in Johnstown, CO. He wanted an office, a bathroom, and a theater room. It was a challenge with the space we were given, beam and posts were in the way. Homeowners were very excited with the end result. Our pics are under “Johnstown theater basement”.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hiring a “handyman” is attractive, because he’s inexpensive but probably not insured or licensed to do what you may want. Most building departments won’t permit an unlicensed contractor. Hiring a company like Farrell Construction will save you immediate money and frustration. There are 2-3 of us on site every day until we finish. We give you your home back as quickly as possible. We spend the time and money each day to protect your home and keep it livable while we’re there. That takes effort! We also guarantee the work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Will YOU be doing the work or someone else? Do you recommend pulling a permit? How do you handle on-site cleanliness (we live here)? What are your qualifications? May I see some pictures of similar work that you have done? Will there be any additional bills at the end of the project or is your estimate solid? Does this estimate include labor?
