Introduction

Licensed and Insured specializing in small to medium home renovation in the New Orleans area. I am first and foremost about communication and customer service. I typically provide same day or 48 hour max written estimates that are thorough and allow the homeowner complete control over the budget. My method for bidding a project is on a cost plus basis meaning I am completely transparent with the cost for each line item whether it be materials or labor.. So for instance, if the estimate allows $7 per square foot of tile in a bathroom remodel but you find something you like for $2 per square foot, that is completely in your control. As a contractor I am not encouraged to find cheap alternative materials and as a homeowner you are given more control over the budget. I typically work one to two jobs at a time and show up each day until the job is done before moving to the next. I try to be available within 10 days to start and so if you are seeing me on Thumbtack, I am finishing my current projects and ready for the next. If I am booked more than the next 14 days I hide my profile so as not to overbook.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is fair. As someone who just completed my personal remodel I was getting frustrated at the pricing increases. With many of the natural disasters and Covid setbacks it is reasonable to expect increases in pricing but the majority of people who just do not have the choice to pay top dollar are being underserved. I want people to remember me for being fair, reliable, and honest so that when the market cools off, I am the one they will call.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I would always prefer to meet in person and see the project. Once we get the scope of work I usually start working on the bid immediately. That can take anywhere from 24 hours to a week depending on if we need subs to get pricing to me but the sooner the better for all. Once we agree to the pricing, we schedule and go.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I spent 9 years building multifamily projects, new homes, and historic renovations before I moved to New Orleans in 2010. The move was just after the housing bust and so I stayed out of building until I purchased and new home in 2021 and did a complete gut and remodel. I forgot how much I missed the business and when my mail carrier couldn't find anyone to help him on a remodel of his double, I took the leap and got my license and got back into the game. The rest is history!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up in real estate as my parents owned title and escrow companies. I get so much satisfaction watching the process of an idea coming to reality.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Literally, all kinds. From first time homeowners to retirees. My favorite is the small to medium remodel projects as these are big enough to need management but not as stressful as the big stuff.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I saw a guy on facebook group needing help on his home that is an hour outside of New Orleans and was hit by a tree in Ida. I knew that was an area that would be hard to find help because there is not enough help even in the city so no one wants to drive an hour for a smaller job. It had already taken him 2 months to get the roof replaced and so we would be gutting the old insulation and sheetrock and replacing it. I made my drywall guys go with me to meet this elderly man and his wife because I knew they could throw out a high price just because they knew he was desperate. Then I explained to the drywall crew on the way back to New Orleans that I needed the price to be fair because these people deserved it and they agreed, We were able to schedule in one week and everyone was happy.
