What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Meet with my customer, find out what the needs and wants are, develop a plan and price, revise that as many times as needed to ensure the work is what the customer expects.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Recent 10 hour CSL course, attending trade shows each year, manufacturer sponsored courses, I also constantly talk to and meet with suppliers and peers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I always had an interest ever since i was a kid, i attended carpentry trade school, every summer i just would call all the carpenters in the area to work with them, my first job was when i was about 12 years old helping and "old-timer" working on wood shingles on my street. Try doing that today and half the government would show up to fine you!

What types of customers have you worked with?

Remodeling and additions that range from whole house projects, to really small projects, maintenance and handyman jobs, my customers come from all backgrounds and ages.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I fabricated materials and restored a high style victorian facade, restored a late Georgian facade that is considered one the finest examples of it's type, it has a photograph it published in a book.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check for licenses, registrations, insurance and make a clear contract if the job is over $1,000.00.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

All contractors have some have stronger business models for a particular type of work than others, customers should make sure the contractor has the broadest base of knowledge and experience to cover all the project requirements.
