Introduction

Focus on quality and craftsmanship - Your home is one of your most important investments and you need to have confidence and trust in anyone that works on it. Quality, honesty and good communication build long term client relationships and referrals. These are cornerstones of my business whether I am building a doghouse or a piece of custom furniture. Specializing in Architectural Details – Expertise in crown molding, wainscoting and custom millwork design sets me apart from general carpenters. Custom Solutions – I offer both general carpentry and fully custom-built solutions. One of my favorite things is adding creative one off details to otherwise standard jobs.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I sometimes work on a time and materials schedule but normally give a project quote with clear breakdown of materials and labor costs for each project. I do have a $300 minimum charge because even on small projects there are planning, travel and gathering of materials costs that are the same as for a larger project.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I guess my first job was holding a flashlight and running for tools for my father. I learned early that an I’ll figure it out attitude will take you a long way and you will always learn something in every endeavor.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I always think I have worked with every type of customer just before I encounter someone that is completely unique. That is one of the challenges I live for and it always reminds me that we are all unique in our needs, desires and expectations. Everyone wants to be delighted with the quality of my work and they should be able to expect it in every single project.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I built a custom closet/clothing store in the back of a box truck. Definitely not an average project and there is no off the shelf products for a build like that. From design to the last brush of stain it was done in a week. Not my preferred schedule but I can be flexible especially for a good cause. When the client walked through those birch clad shelves, drawers, and clothing racks I saw a jubilant expression and wide eyed imagination of what it would become. That moment made the extra effort worth more than any payday I can remember.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Take a big picture view with an eye on the details that really matter. You probably don’t care the brand of widget I use to accomplish a task but you want to be confident that I do and am using it for a specific reason. Never settle with good enough when for a bit of extra time, study or whatever resource invested excellence can had.
