Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We provide competitive pricing for quality work with defined scopes of work. One of the common frustrations with general contractors is when the scope of a project reaches an unexplained change order. Outlining these risk ahead of time is our goal, so that expectations do reach the point of surprise.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We will sit down with them and explore what items they are hoping to accomplish, and then order these desires by priority. Next, we will discuss budget capacity, and often coach them into a manageable scope of work for their budget.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been in the trades since the age of 13, and have built two of my own homes, as well as life-long involvement in all kinds of carpentry, interior finish, and excavation.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My parents built their home in Oklahoma when I was a home-schooled lad at the age of 13. I was involved in that entire process and have been in the trades ever since.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have served clients of high-end custom homes, and also serviced the needs of those seeking to develop property and foundation for their manufactured home. We love to solve problems for the client with a focus on quality and their financial means.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Our crews recently did a restoration of a historic home in Moscow, Idaho that won the Orchid Award. This project took two separate months over two summers, but the project restored the beautiful Miller House to its original glory.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The greatest trick of a general contractor is in locking in a project and then surprising the client with change orders that they did not expect. This is not our goal. We will often provide a price that may seem less competitive, but upon comparison with other contractors reveals a scope of work that has fewer surprises. We think that's the right way to do business.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Speak to them about the scope of work, and the quality of construction. What is included for the price? They may have pretty pictures, but will the product last for generations?
