Aubrey Construction Management has been in business over 26 years, since 1999 and is licensed and bonded in Oregon & Washington. We have been providing residential and commercial services to customers throughout the Metro Portland / Vancouver and nearby surrounding areas. Mike has over 36 years of experience and knowledge within the remodeling & construction building industry. 90% of his business is repeat customers or referrals. He has gained the nickname "Mr. Remodeler" to his repeat customers. He enjoys working with his hands and making the customers home improvement projects come to life. We care about your home construction project needs, as much as you do. We take great pride in the quality of our craftsmanship. We believe in conducting business with honesty and integrity, so we strive to provide the highest level of customer service possible. We moved to Washougal, WA in 2007 from Portland, OR and want to start growing our customer base closer to the Southwest Washington Area to be closer to his home and family. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing is based on each individual project and its complexity, which is usually based on labor & materials. It can also include architect, engineer, permitting, specialty sub-contractors, and taxes.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My typical process of working with a new customer is speaking with them on the phone to setup a meeting time to meet in person, so we can go over the project details together in person. Then, I can write up an estimate/bid proposal of the project to email to the customer. Hopefully, soon after, we can agree on the the estimate/bid proposal and we schedule a time to meet to sign a contract with a deposit, so we can proceed forward with their project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have over 35 years of hands-on experience and knowledge in the construction industry. The State of Oregon requires a General Construction Contractor to take educational classes before they can get their license. Then, every two years, Oregon requires that I take refresher courses to stay on top of the new or changed construction industry building laws to keep my license active. (Washington does not require this education to get a license or to keep to a license active, nor continued education of construction laws.) I also have an Oregon lead based paint license that requires refresher courses every three years to keep my license active. As I do projects in Washington, I learn and keep current with the construction industry building laws through the city or county permitting process.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
When I was a teenager, I took construction classes in high school (building homes) and started working for a neighbor during the summer doing construction jobs. After college, I started working for my family's construction company and then a few years later, I moved to Portland and worked for a construction company until I started my own.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with many types of customers. Everyone has their own tastes and styles. The most important thing is to listen to the customer and communicate throughout the project.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent project I am fond of was tearing down an existing home to its foundation. Then rebuilding a new two-story 4500 square ft custom home. It took approx. 12 months to complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My advice to a new customer would be to ask a lot of questions about your project, because you may not get the same answers on how to complete your project. This may help you choose the person you can trust to hire that you would feel comfortable working with everyday in your home until your project is completed.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is your purpose and/or goals of your project. Have pictures of your ideas to help create a scope of work and a workable budget.
