Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We provide transparent, itemized pricing based on your project’s scope. If extra costs come up (like hidden moldings), we always get your approval first. If we source materials, there’s a 20% coordination fee which is oftenly balanced by trade discounts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
For a design-build project, our process starts with a discovery call and in-person visit where we discuss your needs, timeline, and budget. Based on that we propose a detailed breakdown of scope of work to agree on. Then we then prepare mood boards and develop schematic designs that evolve through feedback into detailed layouts, renderings, and final material selections. Once the design is finalized, we begin the build phase, maintaining constant communication and transparency throughout. Your dedicated project manager ensures every phase is executed to the highest standards.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our team includes experienced and graduate designers and project managers with architectural backgrounds and formal educational majors in interior design and construction management. Their combined expertise and experiences allows us to handle both the creative and technical aspects of complex design-build projects with precision.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
2MO Studio was founded out of a passion for transforming urban spaces into beautifully designed, functional environments. Since our start in New York, we’ve completed over 50 projects in the last five years. Our team grew from a small group of design enthusiasts into a full-service firm by consistently delivering smart, innovative, and client-focused solutions.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with a wide range of clients, from homeowners renovating a single space to commercial and property owners seeking full gut renovations or design transformations. We’ve also supported busy professionals who prefer a full-service approach, as well as clients who enjoy being hands-on in the design process.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
For a Brooklyn townhouse, we fully renovated the interiors, combining modern finishes with historic charm. It took about 5 months from design to completion. On the commercial side, we built out the NYC flagship showroom for Boffi De Padova. We worked closely with their international design team and a architectural firm in Chicago to match global brand standards, managing construction in phases in 6 months while coordinating around logistics and vendor timelines and managing many trades.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hire someone who can manage both design and construction under one roof. It ensures consistency, reduces delays, and eliminates communication gaps. Ask for clear scopes of work, timelines, and material sourcing policies. Transparency and strong project management are key to a stress-free renovation.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
- Are you renovating for living, or investment, or flipping? - What is your total budget and how flexible is it? - Are there specific styles, materials, or finishes you envision? - What is your ideal timeline for completion? - What level of involvement do you want have in executional decisions? - Will you need help sourcing materials or furniture? Having these answers ready helps streamline the consultation and ensures we can tailor our services to your vision and lifestyle.
