Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing is honest, fair, and simple. We offer upfront quotes with no hidden fees. Most jobs are priced based on volume, labor, and disposal costs — and we’re always happy to walk you through it. We price match or beat city curbside rates, with small curbside pickups starting at just $15. For larger jobs like cleanouts or heavy item removal, we provide custom quotes — and we offer discounts for repeat customers, seniors, and veterans. You can pay by cash, Venmo, Zelle, or check, and we send photo proof for remote jobs so everything stays hassle-free.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
It starts with a quick text or call. You send a few photos or describe the job, and we give you a quote — simple as that. If you approve it, we schedule the pickup, show up on time, and get to work. We offer curbside pickup (even if you’re not home) and accept digital payment with photo confirmation once the job is done.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
While there’s no formal degree for junk removal, I’ve been trained through experience — decades of hands-on work with my grandfather and now running my own business. I’ve also worked in property management and real estate, so I understand the urgency and detail required during cleanouts, especially for rentals or flips.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started junk hauling as a kid, helping my great-grandfather Mooch on clean-up jobs around Southeast Kansas. He was the go-to guy for hauling off just about anything. After years of working in the corporate world and dealing with layoffs, I decided to build something of my own — a business rooted in family, hard work, and service.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We’ve helped a wide range of customers, including busy families, elderly homeowners, landlords, and real estate investors — but we also regularly work with property management companies, apartment complexes, and senior living facilities. Whether it’s a single-item pickup, a rental property cleanout, construction debris removal, or full estate cleanouts, we show up on time and get it done fast. We understand the needs of both homeowners and businesses — clear communication, flexible scheduling, and reliable results. If you need someone who’s responsive, respectful, and ready to work, Mooch’s is the team to call.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently removed an old wooden playground set that had been rotting in a customer’s backyard for years. It took about 2 hours to fully dismantle, haul away, and clean up the area. The customer was thrilled to have their yard back and said we saved them a weekend of work and hassle. Jobs like that remind us how satisfying this work can

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone responsive, upfront about pricing, and who offers flexible service — especially if you’re not home. Junk removal shouldn’t be complicated. Ask if they’ll provide before/after photos and accept digital payment — we do, and it makes life a lot easier for our customers.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before reaching out, it’s helpful for customers to think through a few key things: • What exactly needs to be removed? (Furniture, yard debris, a playset, rental property cleanout, etc.) • How much stuff is there? (A few items or a full garage/house?) • Where is the junk located? (Curbside, backyard, inside the home?) • Do you need same-day or flexible scheduling? • Will you be home, or do you need contactless pickup? • Do you want photo confirmation and digital payment options? • Is there anything hazardous or unusually heavy? The more details you can give upfront, the faster we can get you a fair quote and get the job done right.
