Introduction

We love to interview you to find out what you are asking for, and turning your vision into reality. We listen, and build the foundation right so you have a solid project that can be expanded in the future if you want. We love creating places for you to enjoy outside. The benefits of some sunshine and nature to people is huge, and I am glad to help others have places to enjoy outdoors. Building ponds and waterfalls is an art. Imagining the end result of the bubbling waterfalls, the birds coming for a bath and a drink in the stream, how the fish will explore the clear water in the pond when the evening low voltage lights highlight their bright colors, and the joy of watching people and their guests enjoying their backyard pond is a small portion of the fun. Creating art on the canvas of a yard and paint of rubber and rocks is amazing. It may be hard, it may hot in the summer, but we absolutely enjoy turning unused/overgrown landscapes into something beautiful.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Everybody's yard is unique, so it's hard to give an exact price for custom work. For box prices, we start installing up to a 6 foot pondless waterfall or $4500, and a starter 7x10 pond for $6500.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We receive info that you're looking for help with a project. Then we ask that you send us a picture of the area if possible and your address so we can look at your property a map website. Then we'll schedule a call that's convenient for both of us so we can discuss the project, what your requests are, how we can make it work, and determine if we're the right fit. After that, we'll decide if we need to come out, or if we can just fix the problem for a pre-arranged price. Depending on design, products used, and difficulty, there may be other items that vary from this list.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We attend pond industry seminars to stay up on the most relevant, new, and best ways to keep ponds clear. We also have our Power Limited Electrical license, so we can legally work on your low voltage lighting, irrigation, and any other low voltage applications you need.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Both of the owners, Jeff and his wife Becky, grew up around greenhouse growing, pulling weeds in the family garden, and playing in huge puddles in the spring in Northern Minnesota. Jeff was also a part of construction from an early age watching and helping his parents built their own house. We both had the desire to own our own business. All of that background fit very well with owning our own landscape company. When we were introduced to water gardens, we were hooked. We still do landscapes, but we LOVE water!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Fun customers! Some want us to do everything, some want to have a hand in every piece of the project, some want us to do pieces so they can do parts. We do our best to work with you.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We added a wetland (or bog) to a pond. It is a beautiful area of shallow water, plants with flowers, places for birds to take baths and pollinators to get drinks, and will help keep the water crystal clear and provide a natural looking area around the pond for the birds to play in. It took about 3 days.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Are you comfortable with them? Do they have a reputation for finishing the job? Ask to see some of their work. We have customers at our house to see our pond. See some of their work on Thumbtack, Pinterest, Facebook, or their website. Check that they have insurance; anybody can run a shovel for a little bit of nothing but if they get hurt, it's on your policy. Do they need a license for what they're doing? Tree trimmers, plant installers, low voltage lighting and irrigation, are examples work the company should be licensed to do work at your home.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What does the final project look like? Can you show me a picture of something similar to what you're looking for? Do you have a ballpark budget? I could easily paint a $40,000 project when you're only looking to spend $5000 (It keeps me grounded...).
